You are right about the car as a distraction. But the distraction is not a SOLUTION but just a getaway. Only LCW knows how much this affects or doesn't affect him. Being a world no.1 constantly monitored by the media is no easy task for anyone, especially to handle the fact that the nation knows about 'dirty clothes in public'. Not nice.

    Chong Wei’s dad causes stir

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The father of national shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei caused a stir when he suddenly stopped his car at the Penang Bridge, leading to speculation that he had intended to commit suicide.
However, Lee Ah Chai, 59, denied that he wanted to kill himself, saying he decided to go to the bridge yesterday morning after finding it difficult to sleep.
“A patrol car stopped nearby and the policemen wanted to see my MyKad. They asked if I was drunk, which I denied. I offered to undergo a breathalyser test,” he added.
[IMG] It's all just a misunderstanding. I’ll look after myself as I want to live to a ripe old age. —LEE AH CHAI
Ah Chai, a pensioner, said the policemen then told him he was not supposed to stop at the bridge and took him to the police station.
“It's all just a misunderstanding. I'll look after myself as I want to live to a ripe old age,” he explained in a telephone conversation with state Youth, Sports and Community Development Committee chairman Lydia Ong.
Reporters who were trying to reach Ah Chai after news broke of an alleged suicide attempt by a man said to be Chong Wei's father had sought Ong's help.
Police sources in Bukit Mertajam had earlier revealed that a man had been crying alone along the coastal area near a shopping mall in Bayan Lepas.
They said he was spotted at about 7.30am and police managed to coax him to return to his home on the mainland.
The sources said the man, who cited family problems, was then escorted in his Perodua Viva back via the Penang Bridge when he suddenly stopped his car and walked out. Police then went to get hold of the man.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Azman Abd Lah said the man was discharged from hospital several hours after being referred for treatment.
He said police had not classified the case as attempted suicide.

Family problem adds to Chong Wei’s mounting woes
    By RAJES PAUL
KUALA LUMPUR: Misfortune continues to dog world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei even as he tries to conquer adversity in his quest for Olympic gold.
Just coming out of his injury woes ahead of the London Games, Chong Wei has been hit with more turmoil – an unfortunate family problem this time.
Yesterday, his father Lee Ah Chai allegedly attempted to commit suicide but was foiled by the police in Penang.
Just weeks before, at the Thomas Cup Finals in Wuhan, Chong Wei shed tears of agony when he tore his ligament in his ankle, dealing a blow to his hopes of leading Malaysia’s hunt for the elusive Olympic gold in London.
Earlier in March, he had to concede a walkover to his nemesis Lin Dan of China in the All-England final because of a shoulder injury.
Chong Wei, who is in a race against time to recover from his ankle injury and go into rigorous training, certainly does not need any unwarranted distractions.
But national coach Tey Seu Bock has complete faith in the player’s ability to stay rock solid during this critical period of preparation for the Olympic badminton competition at the Wembley Arena from July 28 to Aug 5.
All Seu Bock wants is for Chong Wei to be given the space to focus on his challenging mission to beat the formidable China stars to the gold.
The road to London seems to be getting tougher by the day but Seu Bock believes that Chong Wei has the fortitude and courage to overcome the trials and tribulations.
Seu Bock acknowledged that Chong Wei, as a national hero and superstar, would be the cynosure of all eyes, especially as there were high hopes that he would deliver gold in London.
“He can’t help but be in the spotlight and that is so very stressful,” he said.
“He deserves his privacy as he has sacrificed so much for the sport and brought glory to the country. He should be left alone to deal with his private matters.
“Chong Wei is a strong person and he will continue to stay focused in his preparation for the London Games.”
Seu Bock said Chong Wei had only taken baby steps in his rehabilitation programme since suffering the injury in the match against Peter-Gade Christensen in the quarter-final tie against Denmark at Wuhan.
“He is currently engaged in light training and the focus for now is on his upper body movements. He diligently goes for his rehabilitation programme and is working really hard,” said Seu Bock.
“We don’t know when he will be able to begin full-time training but it is good to see little improvements. What he needs right now is positive support so he can focus on the Olympics.”

Still high hopes of delivering the golld medal when he is just taking "baby steps" towards recovery and has not gone back to real training with the London Olympics looming.

And now his stress level is compounded by this unwanted family publicity! How can anyone in his sound mind expect him to deliver gold? I think he would have done well to have reached the semis!

    God help LCW!

Rajes Paul's article will boost more support from cheering fans for LCW

    .
I think Rajes Paul's article will boost more support from cheering fans for LCW at the 2012 London Olympics.

Knowing Rajes Paul as spiritual person herself, I hope she can give us more insight of LCW's mind, as she follows LCW's preparation for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

so do you think it is:

    1. LCW dad really going out for a stroll in the middle of the night, and then subsequently blown completely out of scale by the press

    2. LCW dad going for a suicide, didn't do it, and then later on try to cover it up?

are police reports in the public record in Malaysia? that will shed some light...

It was in the late 80's when I was home on a visit, driving my plastic 75cc Honda bike, did an illegal U-turn and caught by a police chap hiding to ambush me....I asked for 'tolong lah' (heeelp pleaz). The police chap said 'you know you did wrong, how can I help? I said lima ringgit boleh kah? (5 dollars, can ah?). He said that is too little, I said that is all I got. He then asked me to put the 5 thingie in my driver license and handl it to him. He then pretended to write a summon on a note pad and handled me the empty summon and the driver license and pocketed the 5 thingie. To pay the fine is about 75 ringgit, I think....That is why I love Malaysian police, they are the best...MAS Boleh...this is a real incident, not a joke.

try this trick in Canada and you get double...Canadian police are bad dudes.

Now, back to Dato cars...I understand life is short and he can spend what he wants since he earns them...but in MAS, wher can he find the road to drive those thingie. If I am him, I will drive slow and vrooommm the sound loud, so onlookers can salivate and wish.....

According to the article, Lee's dad was found by police to be weeping by the island coast line and then was coaxed to return to his mainland home. While the police escorted his car, he suddenly stopped on the bridge and got out. It certainly sounds like he's sad and was not planning to do anything. But I'd guess his emotions overtook him while going back across te bridge. I sincerely hope he gets some serious professional help, even though he may downplay his behaviour after the event.

LCW only responded by saying pls respect his & his family privacy. His bro has gone back to Penang to find out what happened.(from Harian Metro)

Whether really want to or not, only the person concerned knows, Mr Lee Ah Chai deny he tried to commit suicide.

The old man probably just wanted to be alone with his thoughts and problems. The result is now different. The whole world has done the math: 2+2=795

    My 2.316 cents...
