Re notching, yep... zm strings take forever to notch the outer jacket. They'll dent a tad, but won't notch or fray. Unlike the nbg98 I've been testing, already notched and frayed after just 16 hrs of play.
Hmm, Maybe its my playing style, but ZM65 @ 25lb lasts me for about 3 weeks on average. Play 4-5 sessions a week.
Bros, Please can you advise how much I should reduce tension by on Z65 if I am having trouble hitting the sweetspot on smash returns? They are 50% power and floating mid-court + getting killed. The noise and power on my smash was glorious tonight. Strung at 22/24 last year, probably 10 hours on feathers and 3 or so on plastics - the latter made it feel a bit better but not enough. reduce by 2lbs? Micropower 66 at same tension defends ok but a tad less zingy. To be strung on a MX60 so bigger sweetspot but I read you -1lb stringing this racquet as it holds tension. I don't plan on battering the tension down on plastics with this though. so 20/22? CHEERS!
Lol "so low". so at what tension is the sweetspot the largest? I find it odd that a .65 string is so much less forgiving than a .66. Might as well sell it then eh.
MicroPower 66 might actually be thinner than Zymax 65 (but you have them side by side). It's all in your head bro' (or hands better said or MP is a softer string)
As I mentioned in my PM man, if you're down around 20-22lbs and you're not liking the repulsion, then chances are your racket is too heavy.
Softer feeling sounds about right. I have soft hands I appreciate the responses but it was the same before I added the head tape (ok so it might have been too heavy even before that) and the other racquet with mp66 was fine with and without tape mod. I love the repulsion! I did't exactly find myself wanting for power with MP66 but if I can tweak the ZM65 tension to get a more solid defence then I'd be a happy chappy. Got more power and better dropshots from ZM65, presume that wouldn't go completely to pot by a small adjustment. Best I stick with what I can use while I'm still on beginner tension I respectfully decline your recommendation.
I agree, I've ordered 10 packs of ZM65 from Eric (Squash_Mart) and I've found the "white" to look more like a Creme/off-white colour.
oh man... looks like you got the defective batch... here, i'll take it off your hands for half price that's just the natural string colour! doesn't matter if it's not 0,0,0 white! as a matter of fact, i'd prefer them not to add chemicals or bleach it to make it white if it'd negatively impact the string performance in any way
Interesting. I had to dig into my string supply today to restring some rackets and sure enough, the ZM65s I had were off-white. Doesn't really bother me TBH.
