PHP: I was the first one reported when Chinese coach told me and I did ask FHF as well..His father is from Surabaya and he can understand a little Indonesian....same thing when I broke the news that he had the baby....many of us were shocked and thought I reported the hoax news...his father is pure chinese just like Simon Santoso, Alvent or Hendra Setiawan or Susi...most of chinese Indonesian descents are from Fu Jian, San Thou, etc

You should get married with the local people and see whose genetics is more dominant to influence their children looks , hair, etc..

The discussion in this thread simply cracks me up . Me too. I follow players (at tournaments) because I love their Badminton skills/abilities. To know their players' ethnicity could be interesting, but I don't see that it has anything to do with Badminton. .
It does to be honest with you..to see which tribe within China has the best gene for badminton. As it stands, Han Chinese tribe has demonstrated they produced a lot of badminton champions and the second goes to the Manchurians as well.
We dont have firm evidence to back this up. Also it would needs to be a significant difference above the normal % of ethinicity...if 85% are Han ther should be more than 90% of national team or SS winners to show a difference. Numerically of course Han will win...
Perhaps if badminton is a sports assessible and affordable to everyone the landscape would have been different.
Why can't other factors like access to coaching, network of talent spotting, regional support for talent play bigger roles? I can tell you what the biggest factor is of China's success - it coincides when Tang XH went back to China from Indonesia. Hmm, maybe he brought some indonesian badminton gene with him.
