2008, 100-LTDs...shiiiiney! Ironically, after 3 months of searching, I finally found a pair in my size. I'll have them today.
The side material is different, stiffer, making the shoe stiffer (a good thing). The 2008 100-LTD with SF Blue is now my new favorite badminton shoe. But really, any SHB-100 with SF Blue is pretty close to ideal.
Actually you'll be surprised how stable Mizuno volleyball shoes are. I have been in situations where I almost rolled my ankles but didn't due to the lateral support of the shoes. I have gone through the Lightning series (except version 3)and one Stratosphere. Lightning being the lightest of the volleyball line and the stratosphere being the heaviest but most cushioned of the Mizunos. Their force dispersion features actually last longer than Yonex' cushion only shoes as they're made of plastic in wave form. Those wave form material disperse the force rather than just absorb like regular insole cushions by retaining their shape upon impact. I have recently acquired two pairs of Mizuno shoes: the latest Tornado and Lightning versions. After trying out Mizuno's baddy shoes, I find that its size is limited to US size 10 and also alot harder on my knees than the volleyball shoes designed for heavier players who needed more support and cushioning. My favorite Yonex shoe was the SHB-65s, I was stepping on air for two months when I had them (when the cushion is still good) and they had sturdy lateral supports to prevent ankle roll. But like all YY shoes, they're light and cushion based. The Lightning actually comes closest to Yonex shoes' light weight and still possess the force dispersion features. You might wanna give the Tornado a try as it's a wider shoe and thus more stable than the rest of Mizuno's offerings.
