Actually, I would prefer the frequency data to be collected right after stringing! After all, we use the observed frequency of string bed to measure the theoretical string tension. It is well known that there will be significant drop in tension as well as in frequency right after a racquet is strung. As the theoretical tension is given (the pounds you string your racquet), the string bed frequency observed right after stringing should be very much close to the given tension. If frequency is reported after the tension reaches its plateau, one cannot be sure the right tension the current observed frequency corresponds to. Ideally, I would like to see exactly the frequency data [MENTION=1]kwun[/MENTION] collected right after stringing. For example, I can sort out the following table that relates different pounds to their frequency for BG80 (ideally for the same type of racquet). String lbs Frequency BG80 29 1229 BG80 27 1182 BG80 25 1164 BG80 23 1046 BG80 21 1030 The frequencies in the table best represent the corresponding theoretical tension in pounds. You can also calculate exact the amount of frequency that represents a pound (can vary at different tension). In my opinion, it's player's job to monitor the string bed frequency after the racquet is strung. Thanks to the table, the player can now understand the current tension his or her racquet retains. If initially the racquet is strung with BG80 at 29 lbs and the frequency observed after a month is 1160 Hz, the player can see there are about 4-pound drop after stringing. If the player feels that the tension now is best for him at the current frequency, he also knows that his ideal tension for BG80 is 25 lbs. However, due to the significant drop in tension in the first several days after stringing, the player can only have his or her racquet strung at 27 or 29 pounds and wait for a period of time until the tension slowly lands to the plateau that is around 25 pounds. If the goal is to measure tension with observed frequency, it would be better to measure the frequency right after stringing when the frequency best represents the given theoretical tension.
Interesting - this is how my NR-ZS will be strung. Wonder how much the smaller head will affect the pitch...
Turns out that I gained 10% on the usual readings - that's one small head! Got a couple of new Victors bedding in at the moment... readings to follow.

^ You really need pre stretch for VS850, either manually or by machine function. Or you could string 2 lbs higher and let it settle down to your target.
I prestretch every string manually, but I think I turned the WISE prestretch off while checking its percentage value. I can't really go 2 lb over, because then I'd be doing 32/34...
Vs850 in yonex ns200. 1155 straight away. 3 hours later down to 1125. 24/25+10% PS and manual prestretch also.
I've only tested five or six strings so far, but VS850 isn't actually too bad - I've got a set of BG80 baking, and that's not doing well...
It can't be worse than mlxl. That gave me hope for one day then went soggy. I think it's made of wet bread.
Yup, from what I've tried so far, VS850 isn't particularly worse than others... The tension loss that everyone talks about might only have to do with the feeling of the string going down. Just like how people say Ultimax stops performing after about 1-2 weeks. Another example that I've mentionned a few times already is how amazing zymax tension retention is according to a lot of people, while it seems normal or even bad to me (looking at frequency readings).
I've just done a racket with VS850 with prestretch ON - let's see how it does. The WISE didn't chatter as much at the end of the pulls, so that's a good sign (but at 32 lb, it very nearly ran out of track).
^yes... Can simply compare to Mark's zm62 a few pages back. I also usually get frequencies pretty close to his.
carltune update this week reduces sensitivity such that I can no longer get a reading. really want to get how the vs850 is going too don't update if you can avoid it! on android 4. something
