I think the target for Simon to reach semifinal is very very very hard since he will have to start from qualifications.
PBSI's 5 main targets in 2014 : http://badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/2415 01) All England 02) Thomas Cup 03) BWF World Championships 04) Asian Games 05) BWF Super Series Finals Good luck for INA shuttlers in 2014
Losing Fran and Rijal will hurt the men's side on XD.... I'm surprised PBSI keeping Debby and pairing her with Jordan though. She really hasn't accomplished much. I remember having high hopes for Jenna when she was a junior. Too bad she stalled in the senior level.
Aprilla Yuswandari and Hera Desi just lost in the R32 of Korea Super Series, 1st SS event in year 2014. Losing pretty bad to Sayaka Takahashi and Xue Yao in straight set. Indonesian WS looks very weak and no improvement in sight. Indonesian WS is way below JPN, KOREA, CHINA, THAI. What is still missing?
Aprilla is 99% likely to be booted out pelatnas even before Uber Cup. She never once won a title and her best H2H is versus Hiroke 3-2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aprilia_Yuswandari Aprilla is rather slow player. -Indra
Missing is youth development. Physical training from early age. We have seen that some INA MS or MD players can achieve more with the right training even though they are "less talented" than others. I think PBSI realize that and they start correcting the mistakes but it will take some time.
Finally the new fresh of hope has come just in time! PBSI announced that there will be new coaches for WD and WS. The Mainaky brothers are finally coaching the WD and WS departments. Reony Mainaky finally will be in charged of WD Yipppeeee!!! and Marleve WS. There will be 19 coaches in PBSI. http://olahraga.kompas.com/read/2014/01/10/1532046/19.Pelatih.Siap.Kawal.Pelatnas.Bulu.Tangkis.2014 Give Rexy a big thumbs up!!! How can he pull it off since Reony last heard was still coaching in Japan since renewing his contract and Marleve was at Exist, a Badminton Club in North Jakarta.
Pelatnas Prestasi (Main / Senior) MS Joko Suprianto Didit Suluh Patria (Asisten) WS Marlev Mainaky Sarwendah Kusumawardhani (Asisten) MD Herry Iman Pierngadi Aryono (Asisten) WD Riony Mainaky Endra Mulyajaya (Asisten) XD Richard Mainaky Edwin Iriawan (Asisten) Pelatnas Potensi (Potential / Junior) MS Imam Tohari Budi Santoso (Asisten) WS Bambang Supriyanto MD Chafidz Yusuf Dimas Indra Prasetyo (Asisten) WD Eng Hian Namrih Suroto (Asisten) XD Nova Widianto Enroe Suryanto (Asisten)
Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan received the 2013 MVP bonus of 1 Billion Rupiah from the Chairman of PBSI!!
Proud but not yet satisfied => http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/03/12/proud-not-yet-satisfied.html An interesting article from The Jakarta Post, two All England titles hopefully will boost INA shuttlers to do well in bigger target in this year, Thomas-Uber Cups, World Championships and Asian Games. 2012 is the nightmare for INA badminton, for the first team INA Thomas team stopped by JPN at quarterfinal and zero medal in London Games.
Both Sony DK and Hayom will be back to their club, Jaya Raya Suryanaga and PB Djarum respectively while Simon Santoso is called back to Pelatnas considering his stable performance, following SIN SS successful last April. Further news on PBSI website => http://www.badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/2911
So we are losing 2 MS from MS Prestasi but add Simon to MS Prestasi. It is time to move the MS Potensi to MS Prestasi. None of the players in the Pelatnas now can match Simon. Jonatan should have a breakthrough quickly. In the women side, 3 WS are booted out from WS Prestasi. Something have to change to jumpstart Lindaweni and the rest of the ladies. Can Hendrawan step in without side-stepping Marlev Mainaky?
i believe, it is better for hayom to be back to Djarum. He is now out of comfort zone. and MUST PERFORM.
Time is running out for Rexy to find at least 1 more top 8 pair for MD and XD. I think many players are capable to be in the Olympics 2016. There is just less than 1 year to before the start of the qualification. No doubt Towi/Butet and Hendra/Ahsan should be there. But who else. I think Kevin should be there too. Give Kevin/Selvanus a few more months, if they can't, only another few months to try a different pairing. As for XD, I think it should be Jordan and it is the same, another few months with Debby. Then only a few months left if they want to try a different pairing. WD is also not impossible to have 2 pairs in the top 8 but still unlikely at the moment.
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but it makes for interesting news. I'm sure huangkwokhau could provide us with some more interesting information.
