because that are what we can buy at reasonable price and quantity. No brands makes or sell speed 74 or slower as their standard product line. We have to tip every feather shuttle and test them before we play

Yonex doesn't have 74,75,76,77,78,79 etc speed marking.. They have speed markings 1 to 5 (where I think 1 is 75)...

I use speed 3 here when using Yonex shuttles, and they are in most cases just slightly to fast, so every four feather has to be tipped, but it is differnt in differnt seasons, and venues..

Anyway, I tried the Cybertecs today, and I feel they are quite ok. and a good trainings huttle. I would not use them for tournament play, as I feel their flight is not perfect.. But its good enough and the durability was also ok, but nothing exceptional..

Don't really know what the pricing would be here.. If they cost more than AS-20 i doubt i would buy them, if they cost less, they could be a good option for training.

    Cheers,
    Twobeer

yes, i'm familar with all the speed. I quoted 74 as most people here understand it. Actually 74-79 is a imperial based where as 47-51 is metric based. I use yonex 0 and still required tipping the feathers. Correct speed here is yonex 00 but they aren't sold unless special ordered.

i tell ya, hitting speed 74 shuttle feels quite different from hitting a speed 78 shuttles, even tho they are use correctly for each of their respective altitude/temperature region. 0.3-0.4 gram difference at 120+ mph, one can feel the impact differences

I didnt mention this in the pan am thread before, this is why team US lost to canada. It was played in calgary, howard bach and his partner in MD and XD keep hitting them shuttles out LOL When howard was testing the shuttles before the match, i can see the shuttles flew fast and he was only using his wrist swinging his racket. It is our secret advantages over international players coming here to compete ROFL

Yea, and if that doens't help, You'll bring out the Mavis :)

But seriously I assume the other team also have to agree on the shuttle speeds, before the game ??

Isn't the the umpire the one who decides which shuttle speed is officially used in the game? Or IBF anyways?

    IBF

I think the umpire has responsibilty that there is a sufficient number of tested-shuttles available during a match, but they all have to be of correct speed according to law 3 of the badminton official rules..
