    i tend to agree that unless you're 100% both physically and mentally you might as well forget it.
    that really depends on how bad the injuries are.

    as for retirement, definitely NO NO.

    TH and PG are going, LD sure is thinking about it.
    If LCW is retiring as well, LD definitely will follow suit.
    what's left for him?

    What is number 1 if you have not won World Championship and Olympic gold?

    Sadly, yes... what you are saying make sense..

    2 Weeks left for LCW to prepare for OG after his injury healed is definitely too short. Normally it will take around 1 week the fastest, to get over Injury Phobia. Not to mention his footwork, stamina & power will be trained as well in that 2 weeks to get back to a possible level in that short period of time. In my opinion, It is quite hard to get back to his level at 2011WC & 2011AE.

    I have suffered Ankle injury as well, which in my opinion is worse or at least same with what our beloved Dato suffers. It took me around 1.5 months to recover and 1 month to get over injury phobia & awkward/stiff movement on court. Not to mention my stamina & power that has been deteriorating on that injury period.

    All the best for Dato. As his loyal fans, all we can do are wishing him speedy recovery & may the God of Fortune be with him..

    .
    With only 8 weeks to go before the start of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, let's have a look at the rankings released on Thursday 31-May-2012.

    The Top 5 positions are;
    1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........95199 points (10 out of 16 tournaments)
    2. Lin Dan (CHN)..................94693 points (10 out of 16 tournaments)
    3. Chen Long (CHN)..............84690 points (10 out of 19 tournaments)
    4. Chen Jin (CHN).................74443 points (10 out of 22 tournaments)
    5. Peter Gade (DEN).............71562 points (10 out of 17 tournaments)

    Chen Jin is the hardest working player, with 22 tournaments played to arrive at the 4th position.

    i let you into a secret.
    if LCW wouldnt recover 100% for the London OLY it's a good chance that he will be down to No 3 in Aug.

    No players came forward to challenge Lee Chong Wei (as World No.1)

    .
    It could be the case.

    I am quite happy that this thread has lasted so long (from 06-Apr-2009), stating that;

    The story in this thread still tells us that no players came forward to challenge Lee Chong Wei as World No.1

    It's only because that LCW was injured, that others get to overtake his position.

    Conclusion: Badminton is a sport so different from other popular sports; where players like to challenge other players for higher rankings/positions.

    I just gotta totally agree with you! I wonder how much his heart hurts than his OG2008 final clash with Lin dan or world championships 2011 final memories.. This time even before he step to the court, injury occurs...He would be thinking, why this happen to me AT THIS POINT OF TIME!...If i'm in his shoe, i will be speechless and no actions to be thought of.. Men, i could feel this guy...

    so, are we saying LCW should gives way to the younger generation, D Liew or Wei Feng CHONG for the London OLY?
    that will be a very tough call for BAM

    It is crazy for LCW to participate if he is not fit

    .
    Yes, I am saying that LCW should give way to the younger generation (at this coming 2012 OG), when he is injured.

    It is crazy for him to participate if he is not fit.

    BTW, you are in England. Get to follow/watch our Australian thoroughbred racehorse, Black Caviar, the best sprinter in the world. She will be leaving Melbourne for England on 06-Jun-2012. She is our current World No.1 sprinter (winning 21 out of 21 races) and she will participate at the Royal Ascot, in the King's Stand Stakes (1000m) on 19-Jun-2012.

    Whenever Black Caviar is injured, she will be rested. Have a read of this Wikipedia info;
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Caviar_(horse)

    And to have a look at one of her races;
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJn2VWMtEio

    Now, tell me this - Are we not to look after LCW not any better than a racehorse? :eek::eek::eek:

    the Olympic gold is 1 of his major target not to say it is BAM or Malaysian hope only... i would say he must strive for the gold wahatever it cost, because the next Olympic he definately too old to compete

    Hope is one thing, but reality is another. :):):)

    I also wish that I could win a GOLD medal at the Olympic Games too. But I also realise that I couldn't win one (therefore, I am not going). :eek::eek::eek:
