i'm a righty but back when i used to play, me and some of my friends play few left hand games just to be good at both hands.
hmm...how to say...i can play good net shot and front court defence with left hand(can control the strenght easily)...and i serve, receive serve, replying smash, drop with right hand... i use right hand to write...i usually play with my right hand...but if i am suffering a injury at right hand...i will use left hand to play...it is ok to me...^^...wont affect much but the strenght was weaker...
Same here! I do a lot of things with my left hand but when it comes to badminton, my left hand is useless. I always use my right.
Is it legal to switch hand during the play :crying:My friend told me that it is against the rule to switch hand during the play. Anybody knows whether there is such a rule? I lam 95% right hand but I can do left-hand shots better than most of my friends who are just in an intermediate level. I'd like to switch to back hand to take some shots.
Yes. Can anyone tell if there's a ruling against being an ambidextrous in the international level? I put money on a friend who claims that this is against the rules. But I have never heard such thing. If there is an "IBF-approved" ruling against this, can you please give a link where we can see this copy? Thanks.
^^A bit off topic-Above query..^^ ..i'm not too sure about any official BWF ruling on this, but the guys had actually discussed about it in this thread (last couple of pages of thread): http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33451
Cooler, I think that's a really tough question. I have beaten more right handers because I play them more and for this reason, I think perhaps a lefty of the same ability of a right hander may be slightly more difficult because I'm not used to them, even though I'm a lefty myself.
IMO it's a little harder playing left handed people as I need to make a conscious effort to reverse my shot location selection. As a left hander myself, I love to play against left handers as you can watch your opponent as a mirror and learn to play better. On another note, I've been discussing with some friends regarding the best combination for doubles and a lot of them believe that one left one right has distinct advantage overall the "same side" couple. Just wondering what everyone's thought is on this.
I'm sorry but I don't completely agree. Whenever I'm partnered with a left-handed player, racket clash is inevitable, especially when I'm positioned at the right side of the court. And even if we agree that I'd take the shots in the middle court, there would still be confusion.
Yes this is the obvious problem and argument I've heard. However, from experience, if rotation is properly coordinated and the couple work well together, the result can be that someone will have a forehand shot all the time whereas "same side" couple will always have a backhand side.
