I was just messing around! I can't honestly think of a song that makes me even misty-eyed. I guess though that usually it's not the song itself but rather an association with a particular event eg the song played at my mother's/father's/sister's/brother's funeral etc

It's not the song itself but rather an association with a particular event . This is very true. We weep because of some emotional events, be it of happiness, sadness, love, farewell, wedding, birth, death, winning, losing, etc ...... But the lyrics and the music do have something with it though, IMHO. .
