M/Q Report version 1 (updated 11th October 2013) : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=504136&dl=1 DRAW date : 29th October 2013.
Good, we will get to see Liu Xin in action, also Wang Xin as well as Chen Xiaojia who is back after a long injury layoff - all of them have to start as qualifiers though. Also saw Tian Houwei and Xue Song in the name list as reserves.
Draw china open http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=507277&dl=1 something just remind me to Wong Mew Choo in china open 2007.
Ratchanok 32 : Liu Xin 16 : Q2 (China) or Chan Tsz Ka 8 : Wang Shixian 4 : Wang Yihan 2 : Li Xuerui what?!!!
Yeah, it seems Ratchanok path en route to win title here is nothing but to overcome host shuttlers, let's see whether that scenario will happen to her or not
The same strategy that China have applied to LCW. Make LCW exhausted throughout before the QF, SF and Final
the draw was made by BWF, not China. I don't think China is happy with the MD draw. All their top 3 pairs in the same quarter.
are you suggesting that only China players can exhaust LCW, and all other players are easily dead meated ?
The draw seems like CL has a more challenging path to the final, JOJ and KT are not easy to play. LCW has DPY in SF, but then DPY is not that consistent and could get KO early. With no LD, LCW has a fair-good chance to take it. Playing at home, the pressure may not be positive advantage for DPY and CL. LCW has not won CO, maybe that may be good incentive. My prediction, LCW is selfish and he wants to get this CO thingie, no more generous lah
as mentioned, all the BWF sanctioned events are drawn by BWF with witnesses. there is nothing that anybody can do to the drawing process which is designed and documented by BWF to be fair and random.
is that "randomness" really random? I don't know that randomness since the drawing process is NOT publicly exposed?the, Who can guarantee? Do they use computer to draw or manually by hand? As far as I know, computer can't generate "real" random numbers.
mathematically, it'd be hard to achieve something that is truly random, if that's what you are after. many PhD thesis on it are still being written on this topic. officially, the wording in the BWF document says it is "drawn by lots". i have seen similar process being done via dices, or ball machines like bingo, or drawing names from a box. which are probably arguably not truly random mathematically, but at least there is no LYB handing the official the outcome of the dices. this is a glimpse on the drawing process for the Olympics, as you see, the lady was pulling names out of a box, and there are witnesses to the process. the drawing process seems elementary and low tech, but it is a process that is easy to understood by the witnesses and the public. IMO, there will be a lot of confusion and thus scrutiny of the source code if such process is done by a computer.
If Kwun has deleted that word 'random', you would not be able to pick and zero on that one word 'random' in your post. Hand/manual draw has tons of finger pointing. Computer draw still got problem. What else to be fair and transparent. Looking at the draw, MD is not good for CHN. Even MS, I say CL has a more challenging path than LCW. Honestly, playing CO, IMO is the toughest SS to play in, with so many good CHN players participating and not needing to travel/room abroad, any foreign player would expect to face and beat CHN players enroute to winning the whole thingie. That is why WMC with only 1 SS to her name, that one SS she won is the hardest one to win, especially in WS division.
it's always easy to ask all sorts of questions... be constructive, do you have any proposal of draw method that you considered to be really "random"?
