    The latest (unconfirmed) words..

..got this from another source; maybe or maybe not already been announced on Chinese news media:
WYH will not be included in this yr's AG squad...good decision~what with her defeat vs. Tine in the Semifinal of this yr's CM..
Instead, the other 2 Wangs, Wang Xin and Wang Shixian will be included. As well as Lu Lan (heard she will only play in the team event). No Jiang Yanjiao.
Additional note, since Chen Jin is injured (back acting up again), he also won't make the AG squad. He will also withdraw from the Japan Open, next week.

    Ok.

Quite unlucky for WL to skip this tournament when you see how she dominated WC..
    Wang Yihan's case looks harder...

As for Tine who defeated Yihan in 2 games, she hasn't lost any game yet....

2010 China Masters SS: Could TB win the WS title?

    .
I think Tine could win the 2010 China Masters SS WS title. :):):)

Unfortunately WYH will not be at the Finals. If she could make it to the Finals, I think WYH would win the title.

It's all because the top half of the draw has stronger players, IMHO.

I see more incorrect prediction from this university trained statistician.
Gillian Clark said for the last 5 H2H record, Tine won 4 of the 5 matches against WYH.
Of course, H2H record is meaningless to you which explains why your predictions were dead wrong.
Meanwhile, Wang Xin had the easiest time of the whole tournament beating Tine in the final, so your claim the top half draw is the strongest is another display of your 'university trained' statistician skill.

Yongbo said three of their promising shuttlers Wang Lin, Wang Xin and Wang Shixian had shown their ability by getting into the semi-finals of the world championships in Paris last month.
The other trio who also stand a chance to become China’s leading women’s singles player are Jiang Yanjiao, Lu Lan and Wang Yihan.
Now that Wang Lin is injured it leaves room for the rest to take on the role. Yongbo revealed that Wang Xin, Wang Shixian, Jiang Yanjiao and Lu Lan would be named in the women’s team event for the Asian Games in Guangzhou in November.

i think it is quite customary for Malaysia press to use people's first name. is it also the case in general in malaysia?

people like to call LCW : Chong Wei.

we never hear people in China call BCL Chunlai, we normally heard people use the full name.

right, kwun. in malaysia its customary to call our friends by their first name.

i think this applies to other races as well.

otherwise for some malay names, they are way to long and to call the full name

would be like pronouncing a to z!

i am sure some of our malay friends can give an example.

For China, maybe it is the population. If you just call Chun Lai, maybe one hundred people will stand up and to eliminate confusion, they gradually called people by the full name.

I saw in a documentary some years ago, China has so many people with the same names with 3 characters and it is creating problems with their registry and they advise people to add one more character to their names. However, there are already surnames like Shangkuan, Situ, Ouyang, WangLin.

The universal system is always to place better players in the top half of the draw

    .
See that you have followed me into this thread to attack our universal system (or is it to attack me?). :p:p:p

The universal system is always to allocate higher ranked players to the top half of the draw.
