Can someone recommend me a good place to string in London? Preferably South/East London. I usually go to Decathalon but was a bit mortified the other day when they told me they didn't like to string above 24lbs as with their machines tensions were higher than stated anyway and any more could break the racket?! What the hell's that all about. Couldn't even get the 25lb/26lb tension I wanted.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Well I NEVER refuse to string any racket at any tension, but ALWAYS caution the owner about the official limits of the rackets. Then advise him/her of the dangers of going over that and the risk is his/hers and usually they accept and I do it. I have not broken a racket yet.

Honestly, sportcheck does not have the best machines (aren't most of them crank?) and they aren't calibrated often. Just ensure that the calibration is correct before stringing.

THats the only thing I hate about it. They dont have a calibrator. I am gonna see if I can convince the guy to order one >.>

Other than that the machine is great. Its a Gamma 6 Point Clamp.

Which sport check? I worked at the Mayfield one (before it closed) and the Calgary Trail one (for about 3 months).

I only started up my stringing company as it was so expensive to get rackets strung in a shop, now I am getting so many people coming to me because they have the same problem, it is almost always cheaper to go to a professional stringer.

Please visit www.apbstringers.co.uk for more information on strings as well as stringing help and reviews.

I string from my home. I have the machine set up on a table tennis table whenever I need to use it. This month has been quite busy - 20 racquets already, none of them are mine.

What's the best way to learn how to string a racket? I'm interested in acquiring an Adidas stringing machine and string my own rackets in the future.

The best way is to read a max from this forum itself as well as hands on once u have your machine. But learn the theory first. here is good place to start.
