hey everyone, ive searched this and i didnt get many results,probobly because the mojority of the people here play with feathers, or maybe i suck at searching haha well anyways sorry if this is a repost. I play with nylon birdies, and im considering upgrading to a new string. I use bg65 at 23lbs on my at700, and i was thinking about either bg66(new logo) or bg80. Id apreciate your guy's input on these strings in terms of power, feel, controll. etc.. The reviews i read about these strings are on feather birdies, and i dont think the playability nylons are similar to feathers, thats why i need your help, thanks all! ohh by the way, im a doubles hard hitter, i play 3times a week 3hour periods, and price and durability is not an issue for me. tahnks agian!
it is said that bg70 is the string to use for plastic. however, if your choice is limited between bg80 and bg66, then i suggest bg80 for the better durability. bg66 will die very quickly with plastics.
I would have seconded Kwun's suggestion for BG70Pro had FZ10000 not limit his selection to the two strings. BG80 is actually better than BG70Pro performance-wise and should perform adequately at 21-23lbs. BG66 is too thin for plastics shuttles and will irritate you to no end when it breaks often enough. BG80 should last a little longer than BG66 but BG70Pro holds the tension longest. IMO, hard hitters should go for durability and consistency instead of repulsion/performance since they are hitting hard and fast most of the time.
Durability must be an issue of some sort. How many backup racquets have you got? If you broke a string every game would it cause a problem? If you broke a string every day would it cause a problem? If you broke a string every week would it cause a problem? there must be a limit somewhere. I expect BG66 would break too often for you. A hard hitter using AT700 and BG66 and plastic shuttles just cries out for broken strings. I mostly play with feathers (80%+) but my string of choice for plastics is BG70Pro. BG70Pro is better than BG65. I have used BG80, not a lot, but would say it is OK. If you only have 1 racquet I wouldn't recommend BG66, but whatever you do, remember to come back and tell us about it
Hmm... alright thanks for the responses you guys! i might go with bg80, becasue i realy dont like the dead feeling of bg70pro
what about BG6? never tried it but if it plays better then BG80 and BG66 i would rather use it and break a string every week and pay like 4$ then 7$ every week. i have my own stringing machine so labor is not a factor to me btw
BG6 is slightly thicker and has a more slippery surface than BG66. I've used the strung and used about 6 of the BG6. I use BG66 now but previously used BG80. BG6<BG80 IMO. Since you have your own stringing machine, why not just try them. You can come to your own conclusion.
i play nylon, and for my reference BG 80> BG 85> BG70 Pro> BG 65 tension is around 23-24lbs never tried BG 66 before. But if you want to try BG 66, it would be better to have 2 rackets minimum.
you missed the nbg45........... this thread is back in 2005. however, bg80 shall be fine hitting the nylon shuttlecock.
