Did anybody here watch Howard Bach appear on the Conan O'Brien show tonight? He did a little demo with Conan and it was pretty funny.

The episode should be available for viewing soon on the show's website but it seems Canadian IP addresses might be blocked.

Maybe we'll this clip on Youtube soon?

How I wish O'Brien had shown a longer doubles clip during the show :(
... a Sigit or a Halim or a Kido or a Tony or a Haifeng or, indeed, a Bach smashing at full power (well, even a Panda :p) and being lifted back for yet another thunderous smash!

That would have amazed the audience who are so used to the backyard hit-up hit-up variety

It was funny, but unfortunately it was mostly centered around Conan's antics and not Bach's skills. Bach only got the opportunity to demonstrate one smash, and it was no where near his best given the crappy feed from Conan. The rest of the demonstration was Conan acting stupid and making a fool of himself and the sport of badminton.

That's why it's called "The Conan O' Brian Show," and not "Bach Special."

I don't think it's making a fool of the sport of badminton at all, giving time for Bach to tell his story and promoting badminton for a few minutes before entertaining the audience.

agree with dave. Conan is Conan, he will probably make fun of someone helping a old woman crossing the street, and probably make it funny as well. we should look in the positive side and don't be too caught up by the jokes.

having air time on a popular show is a plus for badminton.
I don't think showing all of bach's techniques would make amercians to love badminton overnight. The best way to break the ice is through laughter.

That was absolutely awesome LOL Thanks for the upload Dinker!

Great exposure for our sport. I don't see how Conan was making a 'fool' of badminton? More like playing upon the ignorance of the general North American public's awareness of badminton.

Awesome...thanks for providing the info and video..

..haha, thanks, staples, for the info[IMG]...I totally missed it last night...:p
Yeah, i was chuckling when i saw the part when Conan and Howard were getting ready to entertain the crowd. The sight of the funny looking net was hilarious...:p :D
..absolutely!! Just like Howard's (and Bob's) Vitamin Water badminton commercial, this one only exposes the sport even more. Bottom line: badminton needs more exposure in the U.S. I was a bit surprised to hear the loud cheer from the audience as they seemed to get into it pretty good. Props to Conan for providing some airtime for Howard as well; and as usual being a comic. Hopefully the popularity of the sport continues even more, esp. in the U.S., after the Olympics.
..thanks, Dan, for recording and uploading it to youtube. I'm so totally going to fw it to others...:)

..on that note, boy, gotta do some catch-up reading in this forum. Totally missed following this past weekend's U.S. Nationals up in NorCal.:p And of course, looking fw to the pics (taken by kwun)..;)
