HA.. BC also got friends already now. AFAIK, last time there's a buddy list also I think it's just the same. p/s >> i fully agree with chris post #107. When i try to search something, e.g (the keyword that i'm finding), it's coming out thread by thread. How am i gonna search 1 by 1? Please fix this. thanks.
Discovered that the General Settings page have a Display Options section showing the ability to display signatures & avatar but I could not find anyway to insert either of the two mentioned.
blue needs to be darker to make the whites more visible. Too much space wasted btw uid and join date, location etc. Time wasted on scrolling from left to right. Margin halves it would be good. Tough for pda navigation. Notification is good tho. Perhaps can create a drop down list box for stickies to save more space. Oh, use some more creative icons like brucelee and md ali.
..posts #56 & 61 on "page 4"... Btw, is it me or are the texts/fonts size getting smaller?..getting a bit harder to read..
Personally, the widest layout is the best! Like I stated before there are those who can fill pages upon pages of write-ups. And the end result would be ala tinned mackerel in a really cramped space (space: the final frontier!). The colors? It's probably alright in the long run. Also, the wide screen caters best for lines or paragraph readers (speed readers). Just an opinion.
Layout fine with me as well . Colourwise perhaps a bit more contrast, particulary the lightgrey on each side could be darker for my taste. I think it's just a feature of the new software. I've seen it at many other sites already, nothing special otherwise ...
Gotta say, I prefer BadmintonCentral's new look (vB 3 -> vB 4) compared to Head-fi.org (vB 3 -> Huddler) which basically ruined that website for me.
funny that you mentioned Huddler. Huddler has been sending me email every few weeks trying to have us convert to Huddler. after looking at headfi i am not too convinced.
Fixed width layouts are generally a bad idea. I should be able to make my browser window as narrow as I like (within reason) and have the layout resize to fit, without horizontal scrollbars appearing. The current layout is OK, but please don't make it any wider! (There are studies suggesting that around 65 characters per line is optimum for readability of text. We're already at almost double that.)
i am thinking of doing a max width layout. the max width is what it is today, but in addition, one can narrow it down depending on your browser window width.
Yep, absolutely true, that's why I am not bothered about max width (in fact, max width is great) because we know it can be narrowed depending on preference. Unless, we want fives pages that would otherwise fit snugly in one page. Think serious web loggers (the pros as they like to identify themselves, these are the ones who will not AND have to coerced themselves to invoke the emoticons because they think it is amateurish), they can fill voluminous write-ups sans emoticons in a snap of the fingers. And these are the guys who contributes the most...imagine long write-ups with myriad emoticons? End result will be yawning boredom no matter how original and insightful their piece may be! alexh, The case study I understood regarding max readability at 65 characters is/are dependent upon font, font size and most importantly purpose. Gazette publishers have differing readability standards as language translations standards...just an example. Cheers,
In the forums section on my computer the drop down tabs (Quick Links, forum actions, community) come down under the google ads. Anyone else have this issue, or is it my computers? Also is the Carlton ad making a comeback?
Come down behind the google ads? . Yes, the drop down tabs come down, but infront of the Google Ads. Are you saying that yours drop down behind the Google Ads? .
Yes Exactly what I am saying..... Not sure what browser I am using, I just press the internet button!
Haha! Hustlers, are they? I'm guessing there was money involved with the Head-Fi switch, it's always been a very commercialized forum ... they've also completely stolen the indexing system from gdgt.com as well. Thanks for staying with vBulletin, kwun! My one complaint would be the poster-info strip that divides every post. I much prefer phpBB's arrangement where poster information is left aligned and does not interrupt reading down a thread.
I'm not sure if this is applicable here... Few members are complaining that it is slower to load the page and also would want the fonts to be bigger. And also if it is possible to directly load the page to the forum page instead of going to the main page.
