BCL was a gentleman on court compared to .................. He was good but not good enough to clinch consistent top 5 ranking and was a bridesmaid to other illustrious Chinese players. It is hoped that he does well in his new career and that he continues to earn sporting endorsements.
Talking about bridesmaid label, BCL will be the best man together with Chen Jin in upcoming 23rd September LD's grand wedding. Both of them also will be accompanied by Wang Yihan and Li Xuerui, http://usa.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2012-09/03/content_15729689.htm
Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik plays badminton with Chinese player Bao Chunlai, unseen in the photo, during an event to promote Danish company's corporate social responsibility in China at the Danish Embassy in Beijing, Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. http://www.firstpost.com/topic/plac...ys-badminton-wi-image-07nge5zcNf7aD-76-1.html Apparently, not every Dane plays badminton.

Some earlier actions of Bao Enjoy the elegance and some of the finest techniques http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJS9zJBVjqw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAVR935ZClg
Is it just me that misses this guy? I genuinely do. Sure he had a lot of injuries and played his badminton in an era (possibly the greatest era) which was vastly competitive. Truly a great player and wish he could have played at his best for another few years.
Nope, I miss him too, he was my favorite MS player. Too bad injury ended his career a little bit too early...
If it was any other player, it would be widely known and publicised about why he wasn't playing, but BCL in my book just simply....vanished from the scene. In fact, I'd completely forgotten about him until I saw a link to a feed on the right of the page I was reading.
you're surely not the only one out there. Bao played with a very attacking style in his early days but gradually and sadly declined over time because of injuries. It was upsetting to see him in some of his late matches in which he could barely move properly on court. What he has maintained over the years is his elegant techniques which one could hardly find in even the very top players now. And I think his textbook-like techniques are the best examples for us badminton enthusiasts to learn from.
I came across this video accidently. He is still in touch with badminton it seems. Good. He plays doubles!!!!. Sounds interesting.
Its been reported that BCL and Zheng Bo will be participating in the IBL. Some decent pocket money to be made....
http://www.badzine.net/news/bao-chunlai-struck-with-permanent-hearing-loss/32803/ oh no.. i hope he'll get well soon.. and the victor racquet of his looks quite awesome.. VICTOR JETSPEED S BAO
I read about it the other day in the Chinese newsmedia of Bao Chunlai's left ear hearing loss. How careless of him.
Unfortunate for BCL. But I wouldn't say he was necessariliy "careless". I don't know what the cause was in BCL's case. But sometimes a person can be struck with painless sudden hearing loss. If you don't know that time matters, you may delay seeking treatment. Even if you do seek treatment quickly, it isn't a guarantee of complete recovery.
