Agreed. After using a racket with woven aerodynamic frame and 80 holes, it's hard to go back to 'regular' rackets.
This is exactly how racket manufactures can produce few products on the same line, just with slightly chance of math & physics of the racket's spectrum (plus color, shape, & fonts)! Hoping that whatever becomes popular, will then increase the demand thus can be sold for higher price than when it first came out!
That's rubbish Arfandy. The price for rackets don't magically go up when they get 'popular'. Name me one example.
I'll name you 3 of YY as i know so far, Ti-10 (1st & 2nd gen), AT700 (old-color), MP99 & MP100 (production discontinued), & one Carbonex series i forgot the number, yet all these old rackets were priced much higher than they were in few years back.. or now!.. or at least higher than their new versions in the market. What's more, i believe YY has stopped the production of these rackets, yet somehow distributors/sellers can still able to get them (original items) and sell at insane price, just because demand is still higher and considered very rare items. Maybe Yonex does nothing to do with this, but in general, it just happened that way... people loved these old stuff, the specs, feeling, and willing to get more of 'em, yet none available these days thus "money does the talking". This does not applicable to the new-marketing rackets (Arc Z-slash TH, AT900P LCW, Arc10 PG) which have signatures on them & different color. ANother example, Victor SW35 has received nearly perfect reviews on almost everybody whom using it... then come new SW36 & now SW37, yet the price of SW35 is still higher than/remain at same level with SW36 & 37, while SW32 & SW33 prices had dropped slowly because not in range of popular category. I believe price of SW35 might boost up by 40-50% once Victor stopped its production line. Meanwhile within Brave Sword line, there's none really "superb" one to another in reviews, thus the new BS12 has now hold the higher price among BS series. I have no idea about Spira21 vs Spira22 in term of popular demand & price correlations. law of economy actually applies here. Higher demand + good review would increase the sales of product, shall the demand is higher than stock availability then price increases as result.
Okay, in your first paragraph, you're talking about out-of-production items, so naturally any NOS that is lying around is going to have a higher asking price. It's not like the price of any PRODUCTION racket has gone up, for example, the current AT900's have not gone up in price just because the Voltric has come out. Yonex is not making more money on the products you mentioned. And, the BS12 is actually the same price as the BS10 or 11, from where I buy them from, at least.
The law of demand in Asia perhaps. I have never seen a discontinued racket sell for more over here and you are right it has zero to do with Yonex only with greedy retailers ...
so basically... power: mx70>mx80 speed: mx70<mx80 mx70 more for singles and mx80 more for doubles am i right? sorry if im totally wrong
Taken into consideration your guesses, I'd like to wait for the MX100! Usually, a hypothetical MX100 would be the end game for that series. Barring Yonex-like Arc Saber series which I thought might end in Arc 10...came Arc Z-Slash!
thanks mike...if that's the case, mx70 is must-waiting for me too...lucky that i didn't buy bs11 first
I'm waiting for this too. Love the paint job. Gonna use this as my back up singles racket for when I'm not feeling well and as my primary doubles racket. Just got to decide if I was 3U or 4U. Can't wait for the reviews on the MX70.
First page of this thread already has pics. And even then, it'll look exactly like mx80 but with blue replacing the red on the frame and handle...
