I am completely a layman to the drums. I was told to be tuned but... no idea for the right note of each drum. Thank you Red00 for the reference; but my small kid is just at the beginner's level. And after a month's lesson, his private teacher advises us either to rent or to buy a drum set at home for practice. So, we went to that TL piano store and whilst this was on sale (at 1/2 the price)... we were told this set is an intermediate level set and can be put on stage somehow (this is Yamaha and the model is "Stage Custom"). Kwun... we have put books and table clothes on the surface that reduces the noise level by at least more than 3/5 . For the time being, they are stationed in my enclosed HiFi room....... Kwun...I enjoy the bass drum !!! and if I kick the bass drum, it boasts the sub-woofer/superbass, esp for the music DVD "Eagles' Farewell Tour". )) ... The whole house is felt shaking. I thought I have to learn/practice the drum too in order to inspire my kid. No badminton anymore :-(

Thank you red00 for all the inputs. They are so valueable information to me. I did show your links (in fact, there are so many solo clips) to my kid and he (and I) is so fascinated at the drummers (esp. the high hat man of his finger work). Incidentally, my drum chair is TAMA. Thanks again.
mark, i guess u need to consult the teacher of your kid if there is a better way to reduce the sound level. coz if u put some books and table cloths on the surface of the drum head. the stick rebounce will be totally different. it's just not good to beginners. and remember, never use the word "noise" to describe the sound from any musical instrument. while i was playing my electric guitar or my snare drum. i would be really mad when my wife said " CAN YOU KILL THAT NOISE?" come on man! we can't live without badminton and that's why we are here! don't give up!
I love just about all Asian food: Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Vietnamese...all so yummy! I can eat any of these foods all the time, no problems (actually I do). All around: Szechuan, Hunan and Hong Kong Chinese food is hard to beat For a quick fix or social: Japanese For just pigging out: Korean BBQ! For a combo of pigging out and all-around: Indo and Malaysian are hard to beat For good taste and best health: Vietnamese The one I'm a bit not used to is Burmese food. Some of it is oh so good, some of it is a bit "weird" and definitely exotic tasting. Must be this panda's ABCness. P.S. Nothing beats good bamboo, you outta try it some time.
red00: thanks the advice on the "surface" thing. we will ask the teacher (today). Hei hei: before that, he practice his druming this way (pic is out of focus and underexpose because i forgot to switch back to auto mode after i fiddled around the old ai lens some time ago)
sashimi We have this while our stay in Jap. this summer ... the fish is still shaking there (I have movie clip on this ). One fish is not enough for our appetite... we order a second round eventually. My small boy is a sashimi and susi killer.
