imo some new faces : Praveen Jordan. new youngsters : Fajar Alfian, Setyana Mapassa, Masita Mahmudin. from MD : Kevin Sanjaya.
Rijal/Debby is to split before Sea Games 2013, and they will reunite right before Sea Games 2013.... Based on Richard Mainaky, XD INA head coach: Debby is going to partner with Ronald Alexander, the youngster who usually partner with Selvanus Geh. Rijal will be partner with one of the WD players, but to be discussed and decided together by WD coach team. Source: http://badmintonindonesia.org/app/information/newsDetail.aspx?/2064
Managed to watch Riky/Richi playing against Yoo/Eom in China Masters. I found Riky's play was quite awesome. Richi, OTOH, sorry to say, not "deadly" enough...
I think it's better to find great PM WD person for partnering with Riky Widianto. Coach can try to mix this kind of PM WD person with him so that the negativity of this couple will be minimized, if the front area as well as the back area, has been sharpened yet. Not always with much power, but only needs better reflexive movement and also slighter netting to give the attacker much momentum to kill the shuttlecock from the back.
Recreate the new fresh pair of INA's XD before 2014 There are much pairs that can be pushed to the second XD pair of INA. But the XD coach team should be careful to mixed them up, and give them chances to grow up at the tourneys. There are much great ladies PM that still wait to be paired with great gentlemen baseliner/attacker. It is just the matter of momentum of ideas from the creator/coach that involved. But don't go wrong and don't be too long to realize if the pair isn't good for international competition. Split them, and make them a new pair with other available potential athlete.
what is the problem? I dont think there is any problem splitting WR #2. Even world #1 Lee/Ko has been splitted.
differences between Lee/Ko and Owi/Butet. Owi/Butet has 2 All Englands and 1 World Championship gold. that's a huge difference. Owi/Butet is proven already to perform in big event
Wouldn't it be better should we have two elite pairs in the XD? With the current formation of merely Owi/Butet in the elite level, our chance of bagging gold medal in the Olympics 2016 is so minicule - hinges on Owi's mental stability. Plus, Kevin is more potential than Owi by the virtue of talent. With Butet's ability to guide him as she did with Owi, I believed Kevin who's mentally more stable than Owi could improve to be better than Owi. Even if this pair couldn't perform well, the coach could reunite Owi and Butet in 2015 or the end of 2014.
To add on, Owi/Butet have been consistently in top 4 in the last 3 years... And i am confused with all the suggestion that Hendra, Ahsan, Owi, Butet should partnered with our junior, example Kevin. I admit that kevin is very talented but all the thing must be step by step and through long process. There is no short cut. The gap level is just way too far. Kevin must prove himself first in senior tourneys. Kevin must prove that he is better than edi and alfian and ricky so he desreve to partnered with great Natsir. Everyone want to partner with hendra/ahsan and owi/butet but only the best deserve it. And lastly, it is not hendra/ahsan and owi/butet job to groom juniors. Their job is winning All England, world champion, Asian, Olympic Medals....
As much as I do agree that their job is not to groom juniors, what if Kevin/Butet could win more AE, WC, Asian, Olympic Medals, and so forth should Kevin is provided with a chance to maximize his potential by pairing with Butet? Within Owi/Butet nearly 4 years partnership they only won 2 AE and 1 WC. Majority of their losses in other major tournament took place when Owi suffers mental break down and underperformed out of the blue. Plus, remember when Butet is paired with Nova? She's only 18 and the next year they've won WC (by the time, Vita who was divorced from Nova due to her injury becomes another Indonesia's elite XD after being paired with Flandy). Why couldn't we expect the same from, for instance, Kevin who's now 18?
As i have mentioned before in He Bingjiao thread, a bads player should be groomed bit by bit. We have to remember that Asian Games is next year. Even Kevin is still not perform well in Open division. If Owi/Lily has to be splitted, then, Praveen Jordan is the best option now. We have to let Kevin win any IC and GP first. As we also know, a girl get mature much faster than a boy. I think, after one full year in open division, Kevin is ready to take a bigger responsibility. but pairing him today with Butet is quite risky. If Kevin lose some tourney early with Butet, it will be a big blow for Kevin. his mentality could decrease instantly. Everyone said that Tontowi is quite bad in mental. I agree. but when he perform, he is outstanding. 1 WC gold is a good prove. We have also seen that Tontowi can go through a bad period like the enof 2012 when they lose in many tourneys and everyone blame Owi. Owi is just like Jordan. both is bad in attitude, but they grow and increase especially in attitude. still remember Kejurnas 2009 ? Previously, Owi was only paired with a mediocre player like Yulianti and a youngster like Richi. But when he paired with Greysia, he won Kejurnas, beating Devin/Liliyana and others. like or not, Tontowi is still the best in Pelatnas XD. Let see what will Pelatnas do in grooming Kevin. Many times, a big decision is done after an Asian Games, as the decision after AG, will be quite important for the Olympics
I think Kevin needs to get a slightly more senior partner and start by winning international level and then GP level first rather than playing in top SS level. Alfian is a good talent too. He won 2 titles in Malaysia IC. But I think he should continue in MD with Selvanus first. We'll see how they do in the next tournament. Alfian maybe should partner Debby in XD.
