kwun, I understand exactly what you mean. I have no idea why quite a lot of health pills are so cheap in the US but so god damn expensive in asia.
Those taking high strength glucosamine, watch out for allergies. If you are getting wheezing or dry coughs it is most likely due to this. Taking the same thing in 2 portions or every 2 days solves the problem somewhat. I got this problem with Viatril.
Do some googling? Kangen is just a trademark, it is basically alkaline water and there are tons of them in the market. I found one in MY, http://www.aomicrowater.com/Products.html. Its in Viva home, on the way to cheras from Loke Yew. Haven't checked it out.
i ve did some research about alkaline water, i ve found out so many product related with it... i have question about glucosamine , are they compatible to a wafarin user, because i am taking wafarin
Wafarin ... that is one serious drug. It is probably safe but check with your doc first. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucosamine
Kirkland branded Glucosamine Sulfphate (500mg) from Costco. I think I bought my first bottle on special at like $8 CAD or something. 500 pills. Price jumped to $15 now. Took away my knee pains. I had annoying knee pains when squating/kneeling for a few minutes then trying to get up. Been taking it for 4-5 months now? 3/day. edit: The allergy thing I hear is that sometimes this is extracted from shellfish. Check the bottle to see where it's from.
Glucosamine taken with MSM and chondroitin has better effect than glucosamine alone. Taking fish oils also help with rebuilding cartilage that was lost due to old age. My knees were damaged in a car accident many years ago and has seen accelerated cartilage loss. My knees are like a 40 year old's in terms of wear (I'm only 24). But ever since taking glucosamine, MSM, and chondroitin, I've noticed a drastic difference in frequency of knee pain and recovery time after badminton. Trivia note: peter gade takes glucosamine.
Usually walk in to the nearest DUANEreade to get my Osteo Bi-Flex. I usually scan for a product that has the least sodium content and I kind of stuck with this brand because others just has that weird feeling when ingested.
You can try Aleve (naproxin) as an alternate anti-inflammatory. These tablets turn my stomach inside out though, and my doctor says long term use will cause intestinal problems, so beware. I use it whenever I need to play badminton. Otherwise, inflammation from my wrist injury gets to bad that I can't lift a cup of water.
As you said, Naproxen (amongst the many NSAIDs) is really good for me but I concur it can really thin the linings of the intestines, it felt revolting at times (when upping the dosage for quicker relief), however, it does its job well to alleviate wrist pain, if only for a while.
What exactly are these pills for? For the joints or also overload on the knees / tendons. I'm starting to feel the 4x/week sessions and I'm on Diclofenac EG which is supposed to help against infection and overload.
I am taking Naproxen 275mg 3 times a day and after the 3rd day, it really started working. Supposed to take 10 days in a row to get full benefit (anti inflammatory effect) from it. Naproxen is a lot better than Diclofenac but stirs your stomach up so need to take it with food.
I am a 21 year-old man. I also take glucosamine and calcium supplement. One each pill per a day after a meal (I think one pill is good enough for my age.) Never take any drugs with empty stomach- specially this joint pill I believe has quite bit of acid. I think the soreness on my knees, feet and ankles goes away quicker. I have not heard of any side-effect from taking it, if you do not have any problem with blood. You may need to talk to a doctor if you have a problem with blood. I don't recommend the joint supplement to anyone younger than 21. I heard a body can reproduce the enough glucosamine by itself with well-balanced nutrition. My injury test technician recommended me first. I have a neck and shoulder problem. usually pain killer have a chemical-ibrofene, to relax the muscle. My joint supplement does not have a pain killer sort of chemical.
Yes I would, but I am not a doctor or medical related professional. The amount may vary for your age and your condition. Make sure you don't have any allegies on that the supplement contains. I am currently taking one each pill of glucosamine and calcium per a day to prevent injury. I make sure taking it after breakfast before I am going to play badminton later in that day and also take a day after I played badminton. I am 21 old man, taking one pill of glucosamine supplement which has 1000mg of glucosamine hydrochloride and 3.3mg of hyaluronic acid.
I take triflex n l-lysine combo...so far so good.Triflex i have taking for years n really helps oni recently i tried adding l-lysine to supplement, supposedly aids absorption.
If you want real advice go to the sports specialists. Most GP's are not well versed in this area and will give you theoretical advice. Talking about Glucosamine. I took Viatril 1500mg daily and it induced very bad asthma type wheezing. FYI I dont have asthma. So I took Flexa 1500mg and guess what, no side effect at all. It is basically the same active ingredients. I was probably allergic to some filler material in Viatril. FYI, in case anyone encounters this.
