tried to find the NANOFLY shuttles but could not find even one link to buy it except that of the company introducing the shuttles... then saw this http://www.badmintonwarehouse.com/product_p/swtournacey.htm is this somewhat the same?
i was thinking it's just the same brand but none of the new technology of the nanofly... maybe who noes yonex already bought the technology for their mavis 2000
That is not the new Nanofly. Winex Taiwan is starting to ship the product (after a number of revisions/tests). I don't think any of the distributors have received any yet.
Thankx for the update. Please let us know when it will be readily available. Love to get hand on one to try!
I have tried the first 3 versions of the Nanofly. First one was terrible (about 1½ year ago) Second one was close to good to be good, but not durable enough (about ½ year ago) Third one had fine flight in the air, and the sound of hitting it, was closer to hitting a feather shuttlecock than a plastic. Unfortunately was the durability still not improved enough, so the test time was only about 3 minutes, until the 3 pieces of test Nanofly's was broken. (about 2-3 months ago) I have just received the 4th version, and its durability is said to has been improved - I'm looking forward to test it tomorrow. Regards Johnny
I received my samples today :0) I will try them on Friday and after that I will let you know how I liked them. For now I have put up some pictures of them (Closeups) and some first thoughts around the appearance and built quality. Pics can be found here: The upcoming Winex Nanofly Review "Kind of" http://www.stockholmviews.com/badminton/ Regards/ Stefan
My review continues and are now containing a comparison of the smash sound. Winex Nanofly vs Yonex Mavis 350 vs the real thing. Look close to the end of the page for the sound files! /Stefan
It's made from nylon, so it still won't be anywhere near as stiff as feathers, and therefore won't fly properly or make the right noise. It uses synthetic cork, so it still won't have the right "feel" when it hits the stringbed. Compared to most synthetic shuttles, the "feathers" look relatively symmetric, so it won't spin enough, and will therefore be unstable. Basically, it looks like a very cheap, low quality shuttle, but with the one gimmick of the way the skirt is attached. It might be less (or perhaps more) prone to decapitation, but that's about it.
Verdict I have now made my own test of the Winex Nanofly. Read my verdict or dooooom here: http://www.stockholmviews.com/badminton/ My thoughts and description of the characteristics can be found at the end of the page. And Sketchy you are right in you description of the looks you are also right in other of your assumes read my "Review" and find out what i mean. Regards/Stefan
Press Stop! I just received an e-mail from Mr HY Wang a representative of Winex. Mr Wang says that the sample I got was not the final version so I will retest the Nanofly in its final production quality as soon as I get the new samples, the result will be posted here shortly. "Dear Mr. Lindgren: The sample you received was not the final quality we selling not in Taiwan. We will send you it again. We know the last one still will broken in the skirt. The new one is very good in durability. Reds/Winex HY Wang "
New model with natural cork head I'd just received my sample of a tube which I will hopefully be able to test these shuttles this coming weekend. As noted, the shuttle head is not made of natural cork but there is a new version/model with a natural cork head so that might make a difference in the sound when hit. A cursory inspection of the shuttles that I got reveal it to be the same as Greggan's (as far as I can tell) Winex Taiwan also forwarded a fact sheet of comparison between the Nanofly, feather and nylon shuttles where the conclusion was that the Nanofly will last as long as 3 feather shuttles.
This is indeed a very positive development for badminton. Getting the polymer right is a very time consuming and difficult process.
