so the conclusion is LD is not that bad toward the fans huh? at least he didn't give some 'hope' to the spectators with his completely-no-participation. maybe he already learn something from the SO last year.
You call LD missing in tournament for next six month not bad? If the fire inside him dies out then there won't be LD fan for badminton
Does someone know if he said when he's going to come back again? To see him at the All England 2013 seem to be a wish which won't come true? ;-/
he said he will take a 6 months leave so AE should be his first t'ment after the break, but i just can't see he will be in any good form at all.
I'm afraid he won't play in the AE. Read that (don't remember where because I forgot to save the Chinese article), he planned to resume systematic training only in Feb during which based on his condition he would decide which tournament to enter. So I doubt the AE being held in early Mar'13 would figure in his scheme of things but the Sudirman Cup in early May, that's for sure, as part of national duty. Still I think it's all tentative and subject to changing circumstances, his needs and wants. Personally, I hope to see him compete in the AE but, like you,I realistically doubt he can perform well in his first comeback tournament and maybe a couple others too for a start. However, considering the Sudirman Cup in May is a major event to China, he will have to work himself back to form by then which means the few tournaments prior to it should be part of his preparatory, competitive training in a bid to regain his top form. I presume by February it should be known when and what tournaments he will be participating. Meanwhile,to my knowledge,as reported in PG's thread, Lin Dan has accepted PG's personal invitation to play a Farewell Match with him on 27th Dec at Copenhagen. I'm sure PG will give of his best to make it a memorable one (PG to win?). As we know, in the CBSL, Lin Dan's form wasn't too good to say the least as he was a number of times stretched, sometimes dropping a game, by his lesser known and young opponents like Xue Song, Zhu Siyuan, Li Qi, Li Yu (former national 2nd team player);even Wang Zengming for the first time took a set off him. Nevertheless, since he has on a few occasions openly stated he will play in Rio OG 2016 and saying it is his honour to do so, fans, like myself, should have no reason not to take him at his words, at least for the time being. The interesting question for me now is - when he comes back, who will be his no.1 challenger, Lee Chong Wei or Chen Long?
According to reports, Lin Dan is going to play in the Li Ning Cup All-China Badminton Team Championship 2012 from 20th to 27th Dec. It is a team event with 22 teams from 17 provinces and cities competing for the total prize money of 180K RMB. Other notable names playing are Li Xuerui, Fu Haifeng (not Cai Yun due to his injury?), Zhang Nan, Zhao Yunlei, and Tian Qing. Makes me wonder if he is going to keep his appointment with Peter Gade this 27th Dec at Copenhagen.
Just read that Li Yongbo said Lin Dan will resume national training in Mar next year and thereafter start taking part in tournaments. He revealed this to reporters at the press conference asking about Lin Dan's participation in the Li Ning Cup China National Team Championship in which Lin Dan will play some matches, not all,for Bayi Team. I suppose that rules out any international competition for him until earliest April 2013. Just in time to get ready for the Sudirman Cup in May. Btw, the article also mentioned that Cai Yun and Hong Wei (he too?) are not playing in the said China team event owing to injuries. http://sports.qq.com/a/20121218/000740.htm
lin dan are world number 4 now he will out of top 20 if he is absent till AE 2013 if he decide to skip AE 2013 too,he will out of 30
I don't care about his ranking. He just should move to the AE 2013 and give his fans a spectacular Final-Match vs. LCW I'm - compared to many members here - pretty new to badminton and I already have the tickets. C'mon, that would be unfair if he won't appear
then now you know, not to buy any ticket for any tournaments and expect him to be there at least 6 months after OG 2016. i also hoping he would come back sooner, and would participate in AE. but he who made the decision. and like limsy said, LD and LCW maybe even meet in QF or before. do you have ticket for earlier days too?
after AE 2013, possibly we will have LD vs LCW at the 1st round. the same like TH vs BCL in Japan 06 or TH vs LD in Malaysia 07...big match at the 1st round
