I now use the Gamma 6004 (calibrated crank). The Stringway is a real pain to mount a frame, plus tightening those knobs really hurt my fingers. Have you settled on a machine yet?
There is too much "you" in that sentence. Let's change it to "we" and long live stringfest! You should get the wise WISE up and mounted! Then you can feel the joys of standing still!
40..I'll sit here and wait for the video on youtube.Wanna see the shape and the sound. As long as it's not my racket..Duh!!
Yessssss, we need to get that WISE up and running. Constant pull = constant joy. No more multiple hand (crank) jobs per string .
Not yet Pete. Have not decided after all these years....i am still waiting when a perfect string machine(non electronic) with a stringway drop weight and a machine with a perfect mount to complement it, just like your Alpha DC and Stringway/Laserfibre combination.....
There is one! It's called the Laserfibre Quantum (exactly as Pete had dreamed... Alpha Pioneer DC mounting with Laserfibre tensioner). It is available now. I know cause I have one. I had to wait a long time (and a lot of frustration) for mine, but it looks like people who have just ordered their machine recently have received theirs already (according to the Tennis forum). I'll post pics of my setup when I get a chance.
I have seen the photos from the Tennis Forum already but thanks for mentioning. Seriously, I will never deal with LaserFibre again.
Just pointing out that someone had built the machine that you had in mind. I know what you mean about dealing with LaserFibre. I was not really in a hurry to get a machine because I had an Alpha Revo, so I waited it out. I think I'm also done with dealing with LaserFibre... too many broken promises. If anybody is interested in photos of the LaserFibre Quantum TT, PM me and I'll email it to you. It's actually easier that way for me since I don't have an online photosharing account yet.
Why not use the 'attach' feature to post your photos. Just click on "Go Advanced". You don't need photosharing account. I am sure Kwun won't mind as it's badminton equipment related. Let me drool over your ultimate stringing machine.
Okay, I know what went wrong. The lower shoulder supports get to be bang on between the 12th and 13th grommets. Just strung the X2 Gold with BG-65 Ti to 34 lbs X 37.4 lbs. The shape looks great!
we've been in this area before (back in '03) http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11251
btw.. Had some chat with the stringers and players @ Swedish International.. The players who didn't ask for a specific tension got 31x33 lbs So that could be considered "normal" tension anno 2009 /Twobeer
I think it'd be interesting to see what different stringers thought was a "normal tension" and compare them.
