Now that its summer here in hot California, I am switching from the RKEP Super Soft to the Nano so it can soak up lots more sweat.
Usually 2-3 months. I play twice a week for 2 hours. After trying many wraps (yonex supergrap, towel wraps, and head wraps) I have found that Slazenger tacky tennis wraps are my fave. Not because of the durability, but because of feel. I used to love towel wraps, but switched back because of wanted a smaller diameter in the grip.
use a different colour...lol You can't, it will go black with general use, there is nothing you can do apart from replace it before it becomes black, that is if you have endless amounts of money.
1.) Avoid light colors for instant white 2.) Avoid contact with dirty objects during game 3.) For me, I always make it a habit to wipe the grip with a damp cloth and let it dry before putting it back into the cover after every session. 1 to 2 drops of body shampoo is required if its too dirty. It last me longer.
I change my grips every two weeks now but I just changed to a black towel grip, so this one could last for maybe.... three weeks
So far had to change grips once in the last 5 months for my primary racket, but prior to October I played only 1-2 hours per week, now it's more like 2-4 hours so I don't think the replacements will last as long. I use Karakal PU Super grips.
Where my thumb meets the racquet, my grip begins to rip after 2 hours or so. I think my form is wrong, or I just sweat a whole lot. I only play 1.5 hours a week, but that'll be increasing soon. I could play through the rip, but it feels awkward. This is the Yonex 102EX, so I think if I get a bit better grip, it may or may not last longer.
@Blisse, try wearing a wrist band. it help absorbing sweat from flowing down from your arms, thus lengthening the durability of your grip. That is from my personal experience. When i din wear my wrist band previously, the grip will be very wet after each session. once i started wearing the wrist band, the grip remains relatively dry after 2 hours of play. i prefer the grip in that manner rather holding a damp grip.
oo thanks! I used to wear a wrist band, but it got dirty and I thought it cut off circulation to my hand. I also think I lost it too. With a wrist band, do you notice anything off during your games? Like restricted forearm movement, blood circulation, extra weight. And can the wrist band be used to wipe sweat, because I do sweat a lot.
@Blisse, when I first wear the wrist band, it does feel alittle weird. But after a few sessions, I will definitely wear my wristband. Maybe you can wash your wristband more or pull it slightly higher your forearm to make it feel more comfortable for your usage. Good thing is can wash and I dun need to keep changing my grip every 3 to 4 weeks because of the bad smell. I hardly use my wrist band to wipe my sweat since it will be pretty wet after a game or two. I used the bigger wrist band from adidas or Nike. I have seen some badminton brand one tat is smaller.
After I come back home from a badminton session, I will use my hair dryer to dry my PU grip. Then I just leAve in the open to air and store it back in the bag the next day. Easily lasts for months. Probably also I dun play much.
