It's high time Porntip makes a big break after her first and only SS title in IND 2010, hope she can go far here.

Vladimir Ivanov knocked out JOJ, proving his defeat of Chen YK yesterday was no flash in the pan - he is the Russian player to watch.

Sung JH is determined to do well in front of her home crowd, did well to eliminate Jiang YJ.

Looking forward to Han Li - Saina clash tomorrow.

I 've yet to see him play either. Just going by his recent result (the Russian GP, IIRC) and the the two opponents he beat in straight games, CYK and JOJ, make me think he shows promise.

A pity, Gu Juan after a narrow lost in G2 to give Bae YJ a lifeline, is breaking down in G3 while Bae is resurgent.

In the European champs he got beat bad by a guy outwith the top 100, seems to be capable of some good results though. never going to be a top 10 player, doubt ever make top 20, maybe.

Incredible, thought Gu Huan is finished in G3, but she narrows the gap to 2 pts, 17-19 !

Seen him play a few times now, uses his height well and can play doubles pretty well also. Seems he's improved a bit more recently as he had lost to Jorgensen quite recently.

He did win the US Open GPG beating Takuma Ueda, so he is capable. Lets see what he does in the next round.
