With reasonably good players and the new 21-point system, you could try these numbers for a satisfying doubles session: 1 hour 1 court = upto 6 players 2 hours 1 court = upto 7 players 2 hours 2 courts = upto 15 players 3 hours 1 court = upto 9 players 3 hours 2 courts = upto 19 players 3 hours 3 courts = upto 29 players 3 hours 4 courts = upto 39 players In our 3hr/4ct Saturday session, we have only 32 players although we could accommodate 39 players. This is to ensure that everyone leaves the hall utterly drained and happy PS: These numbers would vary depending on several factors, among them the player's skill levels, the male-female ratio and the age of the players.
