This tournament (interestingly) attracted competitors from very far-away lands. I am not surprised to see badminton athletes from Slovenia, Greece, Bulgaria, Hungaria, Serbia, Belarus ... but players from Nigeria , Israel , Iran , India , Indonesia , Sri Lanka ... even USA , Peru , Brazil and Jamaica (seriously?!?!? )... You can get the draw and results here: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=4A715733-D60F-41B9-81AD-7272470BA017
I was about to open this thread but you were faster than me! Anyway, the qualifying rounds will be played tomorrow. 3 rounds of matches for 2 of the Djarum boys. Kho Henrikho Wibowo gets a free pass to Qualifying Round 2. MS Q1 Tamas Gebhard vs Thomi Azizan Mahbub Reksy Aureza Megananda vs Adrian Dereli Not to sure what to expect also here since there's some senior players playing. Nevertheless, I am hoping all the 3 boys can progress to the Main Draw. It's not going to be easy negotiating the 3 rounds of matches played over such a short time though. Qualifying Round 1 - between 10:35 and 11am local time Qualifying Round 2 - between 3:30 and 4pm Qualifying Round 3 - between 5 and 6pm (very short break of less than 1 hr!) The Main Draw will be first played on Friday, with 2 rounds of matches (R32 and R16). So, players with double duties (Edi Subaktiar and Melati Daeva Oktavani) will be expected to once again play 4 matches if they can win their first match in XD and MD/WD!
MD R32 Nikola Mijacic/Illia Pavlovich vs Edi Subaktiar/Arya Maulana Aldiartama - the first match in a senior tourney for Edi/Arya. I hope they can win this one XD R32 Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani vs George Constantinescu/Alexandra Milon - ditto for Edi/Melati Both Melati Daeva Oktaviani/Rosyta Eka Putri Sari and Felix Kinalsal/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo earn free pass to R16 to be played also on Friday

Me too....they should progress to the Main Draw. If both progress, then Thomi Azizan Mahbub will be rewarded with a free pass to R16 as his opponent withdrew. Meanwhile, Reksy Aureza Megananda will face the second-seed Misha Zilberman. If Reksy beat the Israel player, then he will meet Thomi for a place in the last 8.
7 WDN players in Main Draw are replaced by 7 PMD players from Qualifying, so no free pass to R-16. I think Thomi (if he qualifies) will face Zilberman instead of Reksy.
MS R32 Kho Henrikho Wibowo vs Richard Domke Reksy Aureza Megananda vs Maxime Michel - not to sure whether both players can win today, but, let's hope so. The schedule for today is as follows: 1. First we start off with 2 rounds of XD first and I believe Edi/Melati will play 2 matches one after another. 2. Although 3 matches in MS would have already been played in between the 2 rounds of XD, the bulk of the MS & WS will be played after XD. That will be followed by MD & WD. 3. The next round of MS, WS, MD, and WD will be right after that. As I wrote yesterday, there's a good chance for Felix/Kevin and Melati/Rosyta to progress to QF. The other 2 pairs (Edi/Arya and Edi/Melati) will have to win 2 matches, with Edi/Arya scheduled to play against the 4th seed in MD.
Thomi lost to Nathan Dcruz Tried to know who is Nathan Dcruz, he has played so many International Challenge & International Series in European Tour. Mostle he was ended in Final Qualifying round, actually it wasn't bad, he ended in closed 3 sets by some well known players. Austrian Challenge 2012 : lost to Srikanth K (IND) 22-20 4-21 12-21 Swedish Challenge 2012 : lost to Christian Boesiger (SUI) 19-21 21-13 16-21 Irish Challenge 2011 : lost to Magnus Sahlberg (SWE) 21-10 14-21 14-21 Scottish Challenge 2011 : lost to Stilian Makarski (BUL) 18-21 21-11 27-29
Oh well, better luck next time... Hope Thomi learned a thing or two during this European tour. I still hope Henrikho and Reksy can gain more match experience in the next 2 days. I highly doubt they will win the MS title, but I consider 3 more matches each would be beneficial. They will learn how to play different, stronger, and craftier opponents... (with still some shot at winning) This International Series is ideal for them.
Indeed... let them play in some IS and maybe IC level... play more in Sirnas... when they got into semifinal sirnas (dewasa class), give them reward to go to IS/IC level again...
Edi Subaktiar/Melati Daeva Oktaviani begin with 2 easy victories, both done in 20 mins. They will face the 3rd seed Tony Stephenson/Sinead Chambers for a place in the last 4 tomorrow. I think they have a good chance!
