FYI, Shixian is included in the CHN WS squad, in case you didn't read my other post about it in Ma Jin's thread. Btw, Lin Dan is out, probably a last-minute decision by LYB and coaches due to his shoulder injury and loss of form, possibly to be replaced by Wang Zhengming, I hope. Even so, WSX is most likely a reserve player and may not get to play unless the situation calls for it.
I just watched WSX's match from 2010 Asia Games final against wang xin. I can't believe how different she looked back then. In 2010, she looked way faster, more explosive, more active. The biggest difference is the speed of play, because she would strike the shuttle so much earlier than she does now. I don't see how she can get back that speed. She is nowhere near her old level if you go back and rewatch the old video.
It has been such a long time since we last saw WSX stepped onto the winner's podium of a Superseries event. About one and a half year ago, I think. Today (27th Oct) I am heartened to say we have witnessed Wang Shixian standing on the winner's podium holding aloft the French Open'13 SS trophy for WS Champion. My heartiest congratulations to her. The triumph at the French Open'13 is so special and sweet not only because it is a long-awaited one ending her drought of SS titles but even more so for having beaten the reigning world champion, Intanon Ratchanok, en route to the final where she overcame another strong Thai player, Porntip Buranaprasertsuk. To be honest, for WSX to topple the world champion Intanon R was already the least expected of her achievements in the tournament as compared with eventually winning the title which was less of a surprise after her earlier resounding victory over IR. But , to me at least, it is not just that she won out IR followed by taking the French championship, it is more the way she played and disposed of IR in two straight sets, 21-10, 22-20; in fact she won all her matches there in two sets. Not being a badminton expert, I shan't pretend to be able to describe her technique and strengths now. Suffice for me to say, she has acquired the attacking smash, not a lethal one, therefore not a killer shot but good enough to get the job done, mostly to put pressure on the opponent than an outright winner - this has been her glaring weakness, the weapon sorely missing in her arsenal for a long time which caused her downward spiral as her penchant for lots of drop shots, lifts and clears whether offensive or defensive have become well read and anticipated by almost all her opponents. Well, I'm far from saying she is coming back strongly to regain her former spot in the top echelon where she once occupied but I'd venture to say her frustratingly indifferent, often pathetic, form the past one and a half year should be over for good. Henceforth, let's see how far she can go to redeem herself further; better still, be among the very top few sooner than we thought she could. Frankly, I should also say she ought to be thankful, maybe grateful even, to CBA and her coaches for not abandoning her when she was practically going from one lackluster performance to another time and time again, more than even most of her ardent fans could bear. Looking back, I marvel that she is willing to hang in there, suffer repeated failures and disappointments, continue working hard, endure criticisms and brickbats with fortitude, and persevere to the end. Finally, all her sacrifices and painstaking effort are beginning to bear fruit. From the bottom of my heart, I wish Wang Shixian many successes and greater achievements going forward. Shixian, you can do it ! JiaYou !
According to this report, WSX's last SS title before this French Open was 21 months ago at the Victor Korean Open in Jan,2012 (not counting the Swiss Open'13 GPG, of course). That's how long it took for her to break the 'curse'. http://sports.qq.com/a/20131028/007544.htm
Hey guys, i'm looking for a wallpaper of wang shi xian but i can't find one on the web Can someone help me ?
I did a search using - google:Wang Shixian photos - and found a list. One here, lots of her images but also includes a few other players' https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=...lOoeQrQfo0YGoAQ&ved=0CCgQsAQ&biw=1097&bih=568 Hope it's what you're looking for.
Thanks but i already did that ^^ The thing is that the image is way too small to be a wallpaper and it end up being all blur
Wang Shixian, you did it again for the second consecutive time in less than a month, besting the formidable Intanon R, in the QF of the CHN Open ! - I was almost blown away by your amazing performance, a phenomenal feat, no less. OK , allow me humbly to talk briefly about my view of the WSX vs IR match earlier today (15th Nov). In G1, the two protagonists match each other blow for blow until IR was holding two gamepoints, then out of the blue, WSX leveled up to force deuce and finally stunned IR by taking the crucial points to win 24-22. I'm sure for an established, experienced player as IR is, she could not be too fazed by it. In fact, in G2, she started off very determined with all guns blazing. But to WSX's credit, she was up to the challenge, giving her ferocious attacking opponent as good as she got, even retrieving several near-impossible shots and a number of times counterattacking forcefully. It was at that point that IR became confused, at a loss what to do, hence started to commit a string of errors and, before she knew it, quickly fell far behind. Once she realized it was beyond her to salvage the game, she lost the will to fight and ended G2 and the match in humiliating defeat. For me, this outstanding and well-deserved victory by WSX overshadows whether she would go on to win the title in the end. Let us be fair and acknowledge WSX for her supreme effort and consummate skills in winning a superb match against the reigning WC, Intanon Ratchanok, at the QF of the CHN Open PSS.
Look at 49:50, the rally at 18-6 in the 2nd game. A very ridiculous line call . And Wang's "entertaining" facial expression... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3MPkUqvIWc
It is absolutely certain to me that Wang Shixian has more or less put the unhappy past behind her, particularly the incident of London Olympic deselection though it doesn't mean she has forgotten the painful experience, only that she has completely come out of it stronger, not looking back but ahead. Yesterday at the post match interview after beating Porntip, the reporter was commenting on her excellent performance winning the French Open and then followed by advancing to the final of the China Open. Instead of showing elation, she didn't talk much and , in a matter-of-fact tone, merely said that winning one superseries title didn't mean that her whole year's bad results were erased. Yea, my girl, that's the right attitude. For her to overcome her longstanding weaknesses and obstacles to start her winning ways again deserves our admiration. It is not just that she won out twice against the reigning world champion, Intanon R, known for her exceptional skills twice in the space of one month but the manner in which she achieved it that merits our fullest praise and recognition. In other words, it is not the what but the how she did it that amazes me. I bet we will be seeing much more of Wang Shixian henceforth. Go for it, Shixian ! JiaYou !
I'm afraid the high resolution wallpaper you want is very difficult to find. Perhaps you may want to 'tile' your wallpaper instead of 'fill', 'fit' or 'stretch' and presuming 'center' is still a bit too small for you (assuming you're using Windows 7).
Haha. She didn't even argue. It's at least 2 inches inside the line. The line judge needs to put on glasses.
