I won't consider CPS/GLY yoyo right yet, but the standard of XD in the world isn't very high at the moment, so they are ranked in the top ten. They are more consistent than any of the MD backup players... and they actually have 3 GP Gold titles to show, so...
CPS/GLY just need to draw to face Taiwanese pair Chen/Cheng, INA Butet/Tantowi, CHN, ZN/ZYL, KOR, LYD/Ha....and their chance for a OG medal will be gone.....the rest I think they have a chance....

But up close, and personal, she is one tough cookie. The mixed doubles specialist, who will be making her Olympic debut in London with Chan Peng Soon, is an avid video game player. Her favourite is Conan the Adventurer. And she’s so good that she even beats the living daylights out of the boys at the game. It teaches me to be focused,” said Liu Ying, in between chuckles. Besides working hard in training so as to live up to expectations as a genuine medal prospect at the London Games, the 23-year-old Liu Ying says she tries to keep a balanced lifestyle. She keeps herself busy with other activities away from court, like playing snooker with her friends occasionally, going for meals with them and catching up on reading her favourite crime novels. “I enjoy reading stories about detectives solving crimes. I also love watching movies of this genre. I am also fascinated by old Chinese movies about women warriors. My friends always find that amusing,” said Liu Ying, who herself hails from the historical city of Malacca. Colour freak: Liu Ying with her collection of Tarepanda and soft toys. She shares the room at the hostel with Lim Yin Loo. As she spends most of her free time in her small but cozy hostel room (which she shares with Lim Yin Loo), Liu Ying had literally added colour to the place. And, not surprisingly, the primary colour is pink – her favourite. But she also mixes it up with other hues to perk up the room. “After a hard day’s training, I look forward to going to my room to just chill,” said Liu Ying, whose favourite holiday spot is Melbourne. Liu Ying is also an avid collecter of plush toys, especially the wide-eyed Tarepandas. She currently has eight Tarepandas of different sizes and she recently purchased a toy kangaroo from Melbourne. “I love them. I collect and keep them in my room. They keep me and Yin Loo, my room-mate for the past three years, company,” said Liu Ying. She is so smitten by the panda that even her boyfriend Ong Jian Guo is not spared – placing a few of them in his car! “He is really understanding. Jian Guo has been very supportive of my career and I truly appreciate it,” she said of her five-year relationship with Jian Guo, who partners Yin Loo in the mixed doubles event. Although the distance from the hostel to the training hall is less than 500m, Jian Guo faithfully sends her for training on his motorcycle. And, when it rains, out comes his Honda City car. No wonder Liu Ying feels extra special when she is with him. Many have praised her for doing a superb job as an attacker at the front court to complement Peng Soon but Liu Ying, being the modest person that she is, feels that there is still room for improvement. “A lot of things have changed in two years. People now do take notice of me and Peng Soon. My game with Peng Soon has certainly improved but there are still some elements that I have to work on. I can be too eager to slam down winners at the front that sometimes I make costly mistakes,” she said. Overall, she is happy with her five-year badminton career in the senior ranks although that has meant having to give up on hanging out with her girlfriends. “There is just no time to hang out with the girls and go shopping like how some women my age do. I’ve had to sacrifice many things but I am cool about it. For now, badminton is my priority,” she said. Her parents – Goh Shak Whee and Yong Ooi Lin wanted her to become a pharmacist after she completed Form Five. But, being the kind of person who cannot sit still, she managed to persuade her parents to give their blessing for her to pursue her badminton career. Now, the filial daughter wants to repay her parents by buying a house for them. His smile takes away all my tiredness after a hard day at training,” said the 24-year-old Peng Soon, who was blessed with his first child with wife May May last year. Since settling down with May May, the lead singer of the “Da Monster” band, in 2010, Peng Soon has been juggling his busy family life with his burgeoning badminton career. Three’s company: Peng Soon with his wife May May and son Milton. And, for a young man, he seems to be doing just fine in both areas. In badminton, he partners Goh Liu Ying and the duo are gearing up for the London Olympics, where they have been earmarked as potential medallists following their consistent performances of late. The duo are the first Malaysian pair to win an Open title – the Asian Badminton Championships in 2010 – and are ranked eighth in the world. “I love spending time with my child and wife after training. Badminton takes a lot of my time but I make it a point to take my son out for a walk and for shopping. Sometimes, I watch in amusement as he scrolls my iPad,” he said. Peng Soon said that he was a family man even before he got married. “I had to be away from my family for seven years when I was roped into the BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) Academy at the tender age of 17. It was a painful time as I missed them dearly although when we were young, all we did was fight and pull one another’s hair. “Now, I make sure that I am part of their lives too,” said Peng Soon, the eldest of four siblings. That is why Peng Soon was so traumatised when his younger brother was assaulted over some personal problems prior to the All-England in March. Fortunately, everything is fine now. “My father, Chan Chee Kong, works as a car painter and my mother, Lu Leng Hua, is a housewife. They have sacrificed so much and my only wish right now is to buy a comfortable home for them ... “I better start winning more titles,” he quipped. His mother and wife would occasionally cook dinner together and, according to Peng Soon, both of them can prepare his favourite food – asam laksa, char keow teow and other special dishes. Other than spending time with his family and playing badminton, Peng Soon’s other passion is listening to songs. He loves listening to his wife belting out some Chinese romantic numbers while his favourite singer is Grammy Award winner Adele. “I love good music as it is soothing to one’s soul. Whenever I have the urge to sing, I will join my wife at the karaoke ... but she is certainly a better singer – way better,” he quipped. “Sometimes, I also listen to motivational talks by Anthony Robbins. It inspires me, especially when I feel down. Sometimes, I get quite disappointed with my game but his talk teaches me to stay positive.” On his relationship with Malaysian fans, Peng Soon said: “I was quite active on Facebook but slowed down after marriage. But I do take time to catch up with my fans on this social media platform.” Another of this Real Madrid fan’s favourite pastime is to tease his partner Liu Ying. “I like to tease her and call her gu leng (milk in Hokkien) because she loves to drink milk – just like a baby!” he said. “We always like to fool around. Goh/Chan is officially out of medal contention after being "hammered" by Ma Jin/Xu Chen I havent watch their game in OG so far....but I heard from few baddy friends, Ah Ying's fingernail's colour very outstanding....
Yes, they were in the group of death, and they failed. HOWEVER, They were expected to give a good account for themselves, which they did against the Taipei pair, but they were just crushed in the match against the Chinese pair. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed with their Olympics debut (not very, mind you) as I KNOW that they can do better, which they failed to do so. I still don't think they are genuine contenders for any title, similar to Chris Adcock/Imogen Bankier but they can and I was HOPING that they would cause one or two upsets. But looks like they just disintegrated in similar fashion to their GB counterparts.
Hard group and I was hoping to see them to do better. I rate them more highly than the Adcock/Bankier combination who have been mixing up good wins with mediocre losses. Chan/Goh were on a more consistent improving trend.
Already expected the outcome for the pair since the draw came out. Just hope they do their best against the Thais.
