Could it be pralinescream? . Definitely not pralinescream; after creating a thread to say that LCW is unprofessional. .
We should give LCW recognition for being World No.1 for so long . Seriously, we should give LCW recognition for being World No.1 for so long. BTW, this year (2011), LCW will be trying to become the Malaysian national champion for a 9th consecutive time. The Malaysian National Championships will be held at the Stadium Negeri (Kuala Terrengannu) from 18-Feb to 21-Feb. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...t-(Feb-18-21)-To-be-held-in-Kuala-Terrengannu .
BWF World Mens Singles Ranking List - Processed on 02-Feb-2011 (Week 5) . Today I manage to find time to update the BWF World Mens Singles Rankings. Processed on 02-Feb-2011 (Week 5), we have this ranking list; 1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........89197 points 2. Taufik Hidayat (INA)..........76752 points 3. Lin Dan (CHN)...................70514 points 4. Peter Gade (DEN)..............69975 points 5. Chen Long (CHN)...............67133 points Chen Jin (CHN) is out of the Top Five. He is now ranked No.6 with 56542 points. On 30-Jan-2011, at the 2011 Korea Open PSS Finals, Lin Dan defeated Lee Chong Wei. This allowed Lin Dan to move ahead of Chen Long, and be ranked as CHN No.1 player again. Source: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/category.aspx?id=1877&category=472 .
The next big tournament is the Yonex All England Open Super Series Premier, Birmingham, England from March 8-13. This will be a good one as all the world's top players are expected to participate in the world's oldest and most prestigious annual badminton tournament. The WC does not attract all the top world players notwithstanding its nomenclature. Will LCW clash with LD again in the AE final?
It seems that Lin Dan is willing to participate in as many tournaments as he is allowed/able to participate in. This will be a threat to LCW's WR#1 position, unless they keep alternating wins We might see these two players trading the WR#1 spot for some time if Lin Dan lives up to his words.
We might see these two players trading the WR#1 spot for some time . I estimate that Lin Dan will need to defeat Lee Chong Wei another 5 times before he can get back to World No.1. This is because LCW is consistently finishing in the top 4 positions in most tournaments. .
If LD were to participate in as many tourneys as LCW, not only we were given a chance to see them swapping for the #1 spot, but perhaps in major titles too as LD has to juggle both ends. We are yet to see a LD holding the #1 spot with all the majors at the same time.
Lin Dan said: This year's task is to participate in Super Series as much as possible . Going back to Post #667; Lin Dan said that this year's task is to participate in Super Series as much as possible, to get points. There is no mention that he is going after the #1 postion. IMHO, Lee Chong Wei could remain as World No.1 until retirement after the 2012 London Olympic Games. .
LD was world no 1 for 5 years between 2003 and 2008, with a few weeks gap inbetween. here are some of the majors LD has; Olympics 2008 All England 2009 2007 2006 2004 World Championship 2009 2007 2006 World Cup 2006 2005 Thomas Cup 2010 2008 2006 2004 Sudirman Cup 2009 2007 2005 Asian Games 2010 Asian Games (team) 2010 2006 so, i let you to work out which one is missing during his no 1 reign. remind us how many majors the current no 1 held?
This thread is only talking about World No.1 . Oh no. Please don't complicate matters in this thread. This thread is only talking about World No.1. It has nothing to do with winning major titles. .
LCW's continuous World No.1 record . I tried to gather info about LCW's continuous World No.1 record. But the records found only back date to 2009 Week 40; http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/player.aspx?id=1889&player=107832 My memory tells me that LCW began his journey to become World No.1 after winning the 2007 Indonesia Open SS. And I started this thread on 06-Apr-2009. Perhaps some BCers could come in to tell us when LCW started his continuous run as No.1. .
i think since 2003 or there about only 2 players (you know who) ever occupied the no 1 spot. i'm sure there are a few weeks gap before 2008 olympics that LD was displaced by LCW. let see if i can check and confirm
There is a major difference between how LCW and LD became and go on to maintain the WR1 position. LCW became and remains WR1 on his own steam. LD held on to WR1 with a lot of help from his team. When his team is not strong enough to assure him of WR1 with the retirement of CH and CY, CHN was quick to devalue the WR1 position by declaring no interest in it. It s poor sportsmanship over and over again. Now LD is interested in moving up the ranks so that he will not be in the same half as LCW. It s hard to imagine LD taking out his next opponent after an intense and tense 3-game match with LCW. That's partly why TH was sore about LD s withdrawal in MO11.
world ranking between 2004 to 2008, i was wrong that there was a thrid no 1 during that period in PG between 1-3 weeks .....week.....LD LCW 01/07/2004 1 >10 23/09/2004 1 >10 07/10/2004 1 >10 15/10/2004 1 >10 28/10/2004 1 >10 11/11/2004 1 >10 02/12/2004 1 >10 09/12/2004 1 8 14/07/2005 1 5 26/08/2005 1 4 15/09/2005 1 5 29/09/2005 1 4 21/10/2005 1 4 10/11/2005 1 2 25/11/2005 1 3 16/12/2005 1 3 16/03/2006 1 2 24/03/2006 1 2 05/05/2006 1 2 23/06/2006 3 2 (PG @ No 1) 30/06/2006 2 1 20/07/2006 2 1 27/07/2006 1 2 17/08/2006 1 2 24/08/2006 2 1 31/08/2006 2 1 07/09/2006 2 1 14/09/2006 2 1 28/09/2006 1 2 05/10/2006 1 2 20/10/2006 1 2 16/11/2006 1 2 21/12/2006 1 2 18/01/2007 1 2 01/02/2007 1 3 05/04/2007 1 6 10/05/2007 1 6 21/06/2007 1 4 19/07/2007 1 3 25/10/2007 1 2 22/11/2007 1 2 27/12/2007 1 2 06/06/2008 1 2 06/07/2008 1 2 21/08/2008 2 1
