While LCW fans want him to be right at the top again they must also acknowledge that LCW is already 30, an age when he has to work doubly hard just to maintain his former fitness especially.

For most players age 30 represents downhill and it is inevitable that younger talented players will be able to beat him from time to time. The other negative is that having to train doubly hard may also bring about unwanted fatigue and injuries, so in fact he has to balance his tough training with adequate rest in between.

A serious injury may set him back 3 to 6 months and this is something no professional player wants to undergo for it means a loss of income and ranking points. In the past we have seen some top players returning from injury to start all over again as qualifiers. So older players must be more careful in order not to fall into this dreadful situation.

Therefore it will be prudent for LCW to take a deserved rest to heal his wounds and return fresh to fight another day.

In fact he had to look into his style of play.

If he wants to keep it that way,

there is no choice but some harder training :p

take a look at how Lin Dan's game,

    evolved between 2008 and 2010

    and 2010 until 2012 olympic.

He has a good team back home,

understanding him physically and mentally. :)

His 2nd time after he won it in 2008.. What an achievement. Not sure if any sportsperson in Malaysia can achieve this feat in years to come.

Of course Malaysian sportmen can achieve it. But first more Malaysian parents MUST send their kids to badminton court instead of tuition classes before they start dreaming that Malaysia can magic out more Olympians.

As I've posted in the SSF - semi-final day tournament thread, Paisan meant it as a joke but I must say it's distasteful and undiplomatic.

From my reading,if I'm not wrong,it's not to work for BAM but to head an international training centre(camp) called 'Chuan Qi' which accepts students for a fee and enrolment is open to all.

from my understanding of reading M'sian BCers posts, it is the system of nurturing the talents from state level to training camps that has issues. It's no good increasing the numbers if there is a bottleneck that very, very good players cannot get past.

    well
if those junior get to play in senior tournament once they won something in junior
it will be totally different now.
our current batch of player(ws and ms) is 5 or 8 years lagging behind country like thailand and taiwan, not to mention other powerhouse.
while our double department to lagging behind for 3-5 years.

I agree that the system nurturing young talents is a big mess. I will give you some insight of what happened in some of the state selection. There are 5 youngsters finished up called them 1st to 5th in the state in WS competition. All 5 of them got selected for state association. However, the 1st and 2nd got paired up to play WD they are not given the chance to compete in WS. But the 3rd to 5th got to represent the state because the state official favours the 3rd player. Whether is because she is from a particular background or family...ok lets not touch that subject because its against the forum rules. But the outcome is the WD pair lost in later competition cause they are not specialised in that and they eventually got frustrated. The 3rd to 5th were never good enough to compete with other states or other nations to begin with. So eventually everyone left the camp due to frustration near their senior years to pursue study. And the same official still sit there in charging of talent not taking responsibility for his inadequency. Just because he is from a certain particular background. Anyway,Lee Chong Wei won't have got selected anyway if the talent scount is not Morten Frost, I think you heard about this. Morten Frost have to travel to Penang to get LCW to national camp just because local talent scouts just won't select him. Whether is because he is not from particular background and have no network in BAM that is for you to find out. But just bear in mind that this talent scouts are not necessary good coaches, if they are coaches to begin with at all.So yes we have some talents but they are not going through the system the way they suppose to. That is one flaw of the system you mention. But what I tried to say is there's also a dieing interest in professional badminton among youngster. So getting more people involved in the sport might perhaps prompt more clubs like KLRC to mushroom. Now Li Mao has joined the Kawasaki badminton clubs in Malaysia. Hopefully more traning camp spinsored by private sectors like this can grow with more talents. This is the only one way i can think of to mitigate the unbelivable system we have in malaysia bjss and bam, which is to by pass any sport organisations that are related to government or ministries. And have a private and professional tbat grow out of national team and best them in international tournaments.KLRC has already done this with Zulfaldi. Can other private clubs replicate this in senior curcuit? I really hope we can in coming years as Malaysia national team is beyond salvation after LCW retired. Sorry to say that if those officials from certain background keep hogging the management and talent scouting positions.

So we are all not alone :D

there were cases of players playing a 2 day competition,

end up with a total of 12 matches or between 34-36 sets

and those officials really did a good job in smashing their muscles :D.

Rest for a day or two, those winners went to play national aged group final :p

    great, isn't it? :D

Jeez, monkeys in power and running the show. But then again, I've seen even monkeys lead a pack into New Delhi to steal food. The monkeys over here however, are stealing other things.

Give LCW a break. He has been slogging 110% for the past 6 years and being No. 1 for almost 4 years. He is already 30 years old. The body is starting to break down. if he continues without giving his battered body some rest he wont last much longer.

No need to worry about CL, DPY WZM catching up because they are suppose to catch up now anyway.

LCW is at the tail end of his top flight game. His carreer may not be over yet but his stay at the top with LD is going to be over soon.

Realistically if he wants to stay relevant and probaly win the majors in neext 2 years or so giving up the top spot may not be a bad thing. Choose his tournaments, conditon his body to peak at right moment, he could still whacked CL, WZM or even Axel in 4 more years .

agree for the rest of the post, but for this one, do you think he would (or even worse, can) do it?
