Wang Lin , the 2010 World champion, is a typical case of one being one's own worst enemy. CBA has provided her the best in training, coaches, facilities, and the needed support - the rest is all up to her. Up till today she admits injury phobia is a stumbling block, what else can the sport psychologist do for her? I don't know.

I think unless you've been in her shoes, it's really hard to know what's going on in her mind. There will be a point in time where she unconsciously pushes herself past that psychological barrier and suddenly she will realize she has beaten the injury.

A pity really. WL had such silky movement around the court.

Your words don't seem to sound very empathic. Fact is such an injury includes a big trauma for body and mind. After suffering a relapse one year after her major injury I think it's pretty understandable that she needs more time to overcome her physical and mental problems. Besides I don't think it's just the mind, even if she says so. It's also the body still adjusting to its different condition.

Empathy I have, at the same time anxious longing to see her finally overcome her phobia; it's been more than a year since her last severe injury. Thankfully,CBA is sympathetic and understanding enough to keep giving her time and opportunity, including a CBSL club which invited her to play for them. Only time will tell, patience for the time being.

For Wang Lin, I'd like to believe her love for the sport coupled with inner strength and dogged determination would see her through one day. Meanwhile, what if a modelling agency were to approach her with an offer, will she switch? How about acting? :p:)

The table-tennis stars are much more fortunate, hardly hear of anyone being affected by injury and it's commonplace to compete at the top level well into their 30s, only having to worry about loss of form and rivalry.

Wang Lin doing her best in the China Open. She's showing some good racket skills, winning a lot of points with good clears and smashes and drop shots, but she doesn't move that well.

I could be wrong, but I think she needs to shed some weight...

She's through to round 1! Great!

I think Wang Lin will do much better in these tournaments once she gets enough points and doesn't have to go through all the qualifying matches. These really wear her out, ands he had to play 2 matches within a few hours.

Somehow, she doesn't look quite as fit as before, especially the upper body.

Beauty is one thing but for badminton's sake, I agree Wang Lin should trim down a little. Lately, every time I watch, she seems to improve a bit in getting back into form. At this slow but steady rate, we might well see her move into the top 10 in good time.

Wang Lin has just beaten Bellaetrix Manuputi to move into R1 where Porntip awaits her in the CHN Open.

WSX and JYJ kept losing in early rounds lately. Look like WL is on the way back to the Chinese #3 WS position.

yeah. even if i realized that she might still have a long way to go before back to her top performance, but i hope she is on the right track already. and by so, she will be meaningful addition to CBA WS squad, just in time when WX still recover and WSX struggling.
