Taufik beat Joachim Persson of Denmark, 21-16, 21-11, to win the men’s singles title at the French Open Super Series in Paris on Sunday. It was Taufik’s first Super Series victory in four years, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the former world and Olympic champion, who will head to this week’s Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, with momentum on his side. For someone who had gone so long without a Super Series title, Taufik made it look easy in Paris. He didn’t drop a game or even allow an opponent to score more than 18 points on his way to the title. Along the way, he found a measure of redemption for a season that looked to be headed toward another disappointing ending.

TH finally landed his first SS title at the 2010 French Open SS in eight SS final appearances. He was so pumped up with the win that he gave a loud yell and punched the air. The win has taken a big load off his shoulders and he should continue to win more SS titles now that the first one has been achieved. Congratulations TH and it is hoped that you go on to win the AE and complete your collection of all major titles.

It's only fair: if his friend can take the Indo Open SS more than once, Taufik is entitled to take the Malaysian at least once! Indian open once again, just for fun. They love him over there. Ditto Canadian Open and US Open. China Open SS? Nah! He should spend some quality time with his family at this time. WC2011: At least another silver, if not the gold. But I think he should give some serious thought after the AG, to partnering Hendra....... That might just be the killer combo for many titles!
