It might be better with those USM lenses. But still, noise is totally unacceptable. And the focus system is sugglish too! If we could pay attention to their demo clips. We would be able to notice all those clips were shot with a tripod without changing of focus, panning or zooming!
http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2009/03/23/i-jump-do-you/ Unfortunately, jump smash is not a very good way of testing the AF servo. I'd like to see forward/backward movements to test AF servo and to be more convinced.
Cheung, the 5DMkII makes a great badminton camera if applied right. Excellent results Ai-Servo tracking. Here's a sample, still in the midst of 'processing' the rest..
^^More of his pics..^^ ..in the 2009 Tournaments->S'pore Open/Indonesia Open sub-forum. See the "2009 S'pore Open Pictures" thread..
^^You're on the right track..^^ ..keep browsing the page until you're near the last current 2 pages or so...should be a few of them by Gladius..
Very interesting pics Gladius and very informative!! I found a webpage that said the shutterlag for the 5DM2 as being a few millisecs slower than the 30D (which I have). What ISO were you at? Did you have the AF assist points on?

Hi Cheung, replied Kwun in the post below: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1185740&postcount=100 AF-Assit was on. I almost always leave it on. ISO was between 800-3200, varies as I adjust between shots for aperture to see what works best.
Aiyo... fight what leh ? All sharing in this common interest and joy of ours called badminton and photography here. Nothing to 'fight' about really... I don't make a living out this anyway.
