Wow. That's really sad. It's sad to think about we're all gonna die. It could be any second, or in 100 years. =/
IT is very sad news indeed. It does not frighten me to die during badminton..............Atleast if it happens to me I will die while doing something I love and there is nothing i love more than badminton. For me i would much rather that than die in my car going to a job. I live for badminton. without it i have nothing. it is my life.
Because Joanne = Badminton! But it now seems that Joanne has deserted badminton for her books instead!
There also was an incident that was life threatening. It happened last week so tonight i will find out if he is ok. An old guy at the stadium who is around 60-70 years old fell flat on his lower back......and somehow broke his 'pace-maker' he laid motionless but moaning very painfully......the whole stadium stopped. I hope he is ok.....really nice man.......I was amazed when told he had a pace-maker.......he plays very well! Hopefully tonight someone will say he is ok.......I hope so

Keith Chapman, 58, of Barnes Avenue, Dalton, suffered a heart attack on Tuesday evening at the Park Leisure Centre, in Barrow. Staff alerted paramedics and an ambulance arrived at the centre just before 8pm. Mr Chapman was rushed to Furness General Hospital, where he later died. Mr Chapman’s son Glyn, 31, was one of those to pay tribute to his father. He said: “He always had time for everybody and was very well liked. Someone earlier in the thread commented about the disease that causes sudden fibrilation of the heart and causing it to sometimes stop. One disease known to cause this is named Supraventricular-tachycardia. It is an abnormal rhythm of the heart beat and sometimes becomes so erratic that the heart becomes thickened and tired resulting in it to stop. The stopping is sometimes a good thing and the sino-atrial node automatically kick-starts the heart back into a normal rhythm but in some cases the heart just never restarts. An ex-girlfriend suffered from this and would occasionally have episodes that were considerably worrying to an 'outsider'. My thoughts go out to this Taiwanese girl's family and it is indeed such a waste of a young life. A very saddening incident.
oo i feel so sry for her. grr why she have to die?she proably had some disease and didnt know it. i wish she could just feel and woke up and stayed in the hosptiaal till she heals.omg i feel so sry for her family. i hope they feel better.
Just got this news (only my name was edited) Cooler, you poor excuse for a badminton player...and golfer, I don't know if you heard the news. Azim passed away on Saturday from a heart attack. He was in Vancouver in a badminton tournament with his sister. Apparently he collapsed after one of his games. Fang just told me about this. Vining, have your heard of this too?
Azim is a very slim guy, not over weight at all(more like underweight). The likely cause imo is his smoking and work stress. A few years ago he was promoted to a managerial position and moved to quebec's headquarter. I think it is cumulation of these 2 factors that did him in, not because of badminton. Actually, it's maybe badminton that had extended his life. He is very close to his sister as he help her through a life threatening surgery about 9 years ago.
in loving memory of my beloved brother Ang Wren Zhing 26Jul1982-23May2007 My brother is a badminton lover, every Wednesday is the badminton day. He played fottball too, on every sunday. I just dont understand how could they took him away at such a young age. W.H.Y? He went to play badminton 3 weeks ago with his frens, as usual, after work. Just after an hour, we received a call from his frens telling us he fainted in the court, and was on the way sending to the hospital. We tought he was too tired and fainted, not into our mind that he was seriously unconscious. According to his frens, he took a rest after a game, drank some water and just within a min, lying down unconscious. His frens was trying to help by doing CPR while waiting ambulance. Somehow when rush to the hospital, he was pronounced dead. His face turn purple and the lips turn black. Dr told us he died of heart attack. at age 25??!!! I read previous thread and had some ideas on the silent killer. I can't accept the fact that he is gone, just like that, not even bidding good ye to my mum and dad. I know there is ntg much i can do to bring back my brother, just hope he could ring the alarm to the badminton lovers, pls dont push yourself to the limit. Warm up and down properly. Hi All, I thought I share my experience with you guys. I am 37and experienced a Supraventricular-tachycardia during a game of badminton december 2006. It was my first experience. I immediately stopped and became really nervous. I was gasping for breath and the first thought came to mind was that i was going to die. My friend immediately took me to hospital and my heart beat rate upon arrival was 226bpm. The doctor gave me oxygen mask and very slowly the heart beat rate came down. I was hospitalised for 2 nights with sleeping drugs to calm down. I was very nervous and could not sleep even with the drugs. After that I went to malaysia to see a heart specialist. I went through all tests including MRI. I was diagnosed as having a normal and healthy heart. But 1 of the nerves on my heart was slightly longer than normal. This does not cause problem when i was younger. But as i grow old and exercised too much and get too tired, this kicks off the heart beat to become irregular and extremely fast. The doctor allowed me to continue to play badminton but not get too exhausted. Also gave me 1 medicine only to prevent it from happening again. But now i am too scared to play again. Even when i am jogging slowly i still have the feeling that it might happen again.
Just happened to read this thread and suddenly saw my name.. okay, so it was about 15 months back. No, I never deserted badminton for books.. I deserted the internet for badminton AND books. Three's a crowd, remember? One HAD to go. And between badminton, books and the internet... It's really sad to read about all these deaths. My deepest condolences to all who knew them. fabcargo, you stopped playing badminton since then? I'm sorry to hear about it..
