If it's 9 hours since Xu Chen played his XD match, I don't think this can be an excuse of Xu Chen making all sorts of mistakes. If XC/CY is the defending MD champ, and XC is the top XD player in the world, it's hard to blame the coach to ask him to play in both MD and XD. Just has to live with it as a pro.

The MD finalists are Liu Xiaolong/Liu Cheng and Guo Zhendong/Hong Wei , both pairs happened to be from Fujian.

Sorry, the XD was already played today and won by Yu Yang/Lu Kai of Liaoning against Zhang Nan/Yu Xiaohan of Beijing.

The WD will be fought between Zhao Yunlei/Wang Xiaoli of Hubei and Cheng Shu/Tang Jinhua of Jiangsu.

For today's (10th Sep) WS Final, LXR suffered leg (thigh) cramps after the match and had to drag her feet to the press conference. Then at 10.25 pm, she set off for Changzhou to compete at the CHN Masters and her R1 opponent in the afternoon is INA's Belaetrix Manuputi.

Liu Xin was no better, her thigh was bandaged. The CNG seemed to have taken a toll on both of them. Liu Xin's opponent tomorrow is her colleague Shen Yaying.

Let's see if LXR and Liu Xin can survive their respective encounters tomorrow.

For this CNG, I've no doubt Li Xuerui is the Star Performer for she not only led PLA to the Women's Team Championship but also won the Women's Singles Gold herself. Proof that she has bounced back strongly from her WC disappointment. Congratulations to Li Xuerui.

And Lin Dan sets a record or rather he breaks his own record in winning the CNG MS gold for the 3rd time after beating Du Pengyu, 21-18, 21-5.

Cheng Su's injury occurred at 18-19 down in G2, and the medic attended to her and bandaged her knee while LYB himself also went down to check on her. I'd expect the match to end there and then which according to pcll99's linked article appeared to be the case. But the CNG website showed the final score as G1 21-15 and G2 21-19 which implied that she continued to finish the final few points. However I doubt so going by what was reported in the pcll99's article posted.

Come across this video on youtube, courtesy of a certain Lin Chongwei, of the Li Xuerui vs Liu Xin CNG WS Final. It shows how good Liu Xin has become, not a rallying player like WSX but an all-rounder who can smash. In this match LXR wasn't that spent as she was in the CM esp vs Porntip.

If I'm not wrong the CNG WS Final was already LXR's 13th match in a row including WD which she played twice for the team event. As Liu Xin herself admitted, she benefited a lot from the 8-month long secret, intensive training that transformed her game and raised her self-confidence. In the early rounds of the CNG WS, she disposed of Liu Jie who upset several seeded contestants including WYH, and also defeated WYH herself. I believe Liu Xin is better than WSX now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ3Aq3yKU1w
