And INA pair left ruing the missed opportunity in the 2nd set when they lead 18-13, as they lost the match in rubber game
sorry, I wasn't looking at the fully updated results when I made my "prediction!" :crying: All bets are off! cobalt's on his way to a cold, cold shower.....
MS SF Chen Yuekun [9] vs Alamsyah Yunus [12] - the CHN player is seeded higher but Alam won't give up without a stern fight. MD SF Goh V. Shem/Lim Khim Wah [3] vs Markis Kido/Alvent Yulianto Chandra [6] - WR17 vs WR19. The INA pair could take advantage of their wealth of experience. I am hoping they could beat the MAS pair. WD SF Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth/Rizky Amelia Pradipta [1] vs Goh Liu Ying/Lim Yin Loo - the H2H is 2-0 in favor of the INA pair. They should take this one. Vita Marissa/Variella Aprilsasi vs Vanessa Neo Yu Yan/Yao Lei - I am not sure why the Singapore coach decides to split Yao/Shinta. I hope to see an all-INA Final in WD. XD SF Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying [1] vs Praveen Jordan/Vita Marissa - nothing to lose for Jordan/Vita and Vita is technically superior compared to Goh. The MAS pair has a slight edge. Of course, I am hoping for an upset. Tan Aik Quan/Lai Pei Jing [4] vs Markus Fernaldi Gideon/Variella Aprilsasi - Markus/Valla have been impressive so far and I am not ruling out another upset.
10 matches on SF day. INA figures in 6 of the 10 matches. Of these, none are all-INA affairs MAS figures in 6 of 10 matches. Of these two are all-MAS affairs -one MD, one MS Singapore figures in 2 matches - WS and WD THA figures in 2 matches - both the WS semis (cobalt duly eats his earlier words...) CHN and IND figure in 1 match each - MS and WS
Malaysia’s coach, Hendrawan’s charges Goh Soon Huat and Iskandar Zainuddin led the way by reaching the semi-final. In his progress, GSH slayed TS (S7) and CYK whilst Iskandar had it easier beating LDK and getting a walkover from RMV Gurusaidutt who withdrew due to an injury in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] game trailing 2-5 and losing 19-21 in the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] game. As both players are competing against each other, Malaysia is assured of a place in the MS final. BAM’s star players Liew Daren and Chong Wei Feng fell by the wayside losing in the QF and 2nd round matches respectively. As usual Liew Daren gave the excuse that it was his first meeting with the Chinese player Chen Yuekun and that he couldn’t follow him in the first game. CWF has to check his inconsistency if he is to progress further in the world rankings. He is just too volatile. Goh Liu Yin will appear in 2 semi-final matches of XD and WD. In the XD, her partner CPS said he is not motivated and that the stadium is too small to accommodate the crowd. It is wondered what he would say next time round. The other Malaysian XD pair in the SF are TAQ/LPJ (S4). Hopefully the Malaysian pairs can reach the final as both pairs will be playing against the Indonesians. The men’s doubles have 3 pairs competing with KKK/TBH (S1) squaring off with MZAL/MFMT (S4) and GVS/LKW against AYC/MK (S6). Malaysia is thus assured of a representation in the MD final also.
Iskandar has a great chance to prove it.. My favourite to win the MS title this time in Malaysia with home crowd in his favour.. He is a very good player.
ah,i miss these amber is the 1st lengcai in kpop girl group, haha i went to sleep yesterday, end up he cannot
Hopefully all-INA-finals in WD MAS pairs dominate MD category, only Alvent/Kido who could deny all-MAS-finals tomorrow.
It looked to be that Yao and Vanessa combined better yesterday than I've ever seen Yao/Shinta play - quite smooth and controlled. And both are good at the net. Gideon and Variella winning, I think, won't be considered an upset to me, considering that it's XD vs , err, MD. Lai Pei Jing has hardly any power to balance it out. Plus there is that superb coach Sigit Budiarto thing to consider.
Saw Iskandar played against CWF in the nationals & in the first Axiata. Very high-spirited player, I loved how he motivated himself on court, chasing the shuttle around court / all his dives to return the shuttle. Unfortunate for him to suffer an accident a while back, but hopefully he'll make it today or at least not give in easily and gives his opponent a hard time.
Singapore's unexpected women semifinalists Surprisingly, SIN managed to field two semifinalists today in WS and WD. However, their chances are rather slim. In WS, Gu Juan (5) has lost twice to Busanan Ongbumrungpan (2)in their two previous H-H encounters: 11/14/2012: Li Ning China Open 2012 - 12-21, 19-21, and 09/13/2012: Li Ning China Masters 2012 - 18-21, 21-23 But Gu Juan has already exceeded expectations and an upset will indeed be another pleasant surprise! More unexpectantly is the new unseeded combo of Vanessa Neo, who is more at home at XD with Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Yao Lei, our WD specialist who used to partner Shinta Mulia Sari. They were lucky to get a bye in R1 and managed to beat team mates Gu Juan and Liang Xiaoyu, also a new doubles experiment, in R2 and the more established MAS pair of Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei (2) in the QF enroute to the semis. But again, Vanessa and Yao are up against INA's more experienced pair of Aprilsasi Putri and the evergreen Vita Marissa who has confounded many pairs in the past! I suppose a good fight is all that we can ask for. Just today, the SBA have officially announced that they hope to bring our women's doubles standards to a higher level with the new pairings and perhaps further experimentation. They felt that Yao Lei and Shinta have reached their limits and hopefully the new Korean coach Yoo, who won two Olympic silver medals in MD, could help in this respect. A finalist for SIN is a very good result indeed!
