    an important thing to note from the WR ATM is that Chen Jin is #10 now and if his form continues he will probably stay around #7/8/9 + he will lose I think 13000 points from his WC sucess come August. He might not make OG12, LYB might have to consider sending Du Pengyu and Bao Chunlai to more tournaments in an effort to boost rankings and try and get three MS, although unlikely.

    Chen Jin might not make it to the OG12 ???

    .
    If you look at the 2011 Week 21 World Ranking Lists again, you would find quite a BIG gap in points between those in the group of 'Top 4 Players' and those positioned 5th and below.

    Let's look at the players' rankings in that group from 5th and below (to 32nd, let's say). Players here can move up or down by up to 5 positions in a week quite easily (I would say).

    I see that you are concerned that Chen Jin might not make it to the OG12 (based on last week's list, that he's ranked 10th). But CJ can jump up to the 5th position quite quickly. :):):)

    Yes, but CJ needs to be top 4 in order to make it to OG, IMO based on current form, CL and LD will be the MS. In fact I think LYB was so worried that's why he sent him to MAS GPG, to pick up some points, as well as to Thai GPG, with CL and others. Also, LYB could have played CJ in the Sudirman cup to pick up some points, however maybe he didn't feel confident enough to put him up against Marc, Sasaki etc.

    LD has no intention of going after the #1 spot anymore, like he said in the paper. So LCW is probably fairly safe, although LD will play more tournaments, so will pick up tons of points.

    Lin Dan has moved back to #2 spot again !!!

    .
    Yes, if you go back to Post #1, you will read that China is no longer interested to have Lin Dan to regain his World No.1 position.

    But then, this week Lin Dan has moved back to the #2 spot again;

    Here is the ranking list released today (from the 2011 Week 22 World Ranking Lists).

    For the top 6 Mens Singles players;

    1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........93997 points
    2. Lin Dan (CHN)..................75906 points
    3. Taufik Hidayat (INA).........74740 points
    4. Chen Long (CHN)..............66500 points
    5. Peter Gade (DEN).............64513 points
    6. Boonsak Ponsana (THA)....58714 points

    * Lin Dan has overtaken Taufik Hidayat again.
    * The other 4 players' positions remained unchanged.

    Here was last week's rankings;

    BTW, looking down further below the 6th position, it is found that Kenichi Tago has made a big, big rise (up 7 places); from 25th to 18th.

    Although, LD has no intention of regaining the #1 he might do it by "accident" if he plays most of the big tournaments in the OG Qualification period. With LCW not playing in SG, then LD is pretty much guarenteed a final If not a victory.:)

    I think TH will drop further in the rankings as he keeps losing to 2nd tier players.
    The same has to be said of CJ.
    However, Sho Sasaki should move up as he has been consistent with his good performances recently.

    How much closer will Lin Dan be able to catch up with Lee Chong Wei's No.1 Ranking?

    .
    Now that Lee Chong Wei is not participating in the current 2011 Singapore Open SS, while Lin Dan is; How much closer will Lin Dan (if he wins the title) be able to catch up with Lee Chong Wei's No.1 World Ranking?

    Is there any BCer knowing how our BWF World Rankings will be changed after this Singapore Open SS?

    Even our news media got it wrong

    .
    Even our news media has got it wrong; :eek::eek::eek:

    Lin, 27, who is married to Chinese former world champion Xie Xingfang, lies just 4,160 points behind Lee after winning the Korea Open and narrowly losing to his Malaysian arch-rival in a classic All-England final in March.

    Please give credit where credit is due.
    No doubt LD is the most talented badminton player ever but LCW is world number one based on merit and consistent winning performances.
    I don’t think we should run down a player by labeling him negative name(s). LCW’s fans and supporters certainly do not share your view. :cool::cool::cool:

    Crickey! Judging from his past postings alexyong seems to make a career of LCW bashing. :) I can understand not liking a particular player but surely you have more intelligent things to say about badminton than trolling like this?

    The reason why the mods don t ban a member such as alexyong is because the mods are mostly LD fans and alexyong is perfect as their mouthpiece to say what they can t say. This post will be short lived for sure.
