    Hehe I know. :p

Maybe it's LYB's personal rankings for each player. LD is certainly a 5-star general

It stands for number of Oscar worthy performances ;):p

Ma Jin has two, LXR has none ... Are you sure Wang Xiaoli has 4? Looks like two in your pic ...

Chen Long is rated One Star and Chen Jin (believe it or not) has four stars inscribed on his kit. Well we almost forgot he did win a couple but not a many titles before 2011

Chen Jin has won 4 thomas cups, 1 WC, 1 AE, 1 AG (team)

Those are his major honours, so i guess SS victories count for 1?

    CJ's earned 4 stars by being LYB's #1 minesweeper

If Chen Jin wins the Olympics.......that means he is on the same level with Lin Dan...that would extremely awkward considering most of the titles he won were not genuinely his except for the World Championship :)

Or deviate just a bit from the flag...by making 2 big stars (with 3 lesser stars) but still retaining the overall 5 stars?

If LD wins the OG, I reckon he should have the largest star on his shirt in gold

I think the stars represent team honours, if one represented the country in Uber, Thomas, Sudirman, Olympic games. The final star, looks like only LD has one, may even be bestowed by coach, CBA, or voted on by players as recognition for distinguished service.

I don't think they are for individual achievements because the Chinese have always emphasized team achievement and team identity. If you look at LYB's management style (all the Chinese strategic withdraws), all he cares about is Gold for China, not any particular players, so being a minesweeper (Chen Jin) counts as "service".

If these stars recognize individual achievements, the reward system may is in conflict with LYB's strategy. Because with rank comes pulling rank and dissension among the ranks, as such players will be unwilling to sacrifice for "the greater good". If these stars reward team achievement, then the players will merely desire to be included and behave like loyal foot soldiers. Somebody mentioned that fives stars = five star general, I think this is false, more likely they represent battles fought and medals of valor rather than rank. This very similar to the army. We all know who the five star general is on the team, that is reserved for LYB.

    Just my 2 cents
