That is definitely an idea. But then, I probably still don't get to play because there are so many good players around here that would love to get hire and fire by kwun. But Team BadmintonCentral will rock for sure
the teams have been finalized. the tournament is a typical round robin group match -> elimination format. there are total 14 companies organized into 4 groups: Group 1: Ebay (1) Genentech Roche Advantech Group 2: Google (4) VMware Cisco 3PAR Group 3 Intel (3) Yahoo City of San Francisco Group 4 Oracle (2) Lam Research Nvidia the top 2 finisher in each group advances to the elimination round.
^^A bit of relief..^^ ..phew, aren't you glad your team is not in the same group as the defending champs??..Btw, what is your team's target of finish?? Is it just to make it to the next round??..So, does it mean after the group play, it'll be Group 1 and Group 4 facing off?? and Group 2 and Group 3 will face off against each other??.. Good luck, kwun, and most importantly have lots and tons of fun!!! Take lots of pictures, too!!
If someone can take pictures or even video tape the matches and put on youtube, that will be wonderful.
any word on winners and second/third place? looking forward to Kwun's pictures, I saw him there perched atop his trusty stool, when not busy playing XD
Congrats to EBay for retaining the crown. This year I noticed the quality of the teams from last year had all improved, and there are pleasant surprises from the new participants as well. Kudos to the organizers/volunteers for a tournament well run. Looking forward to the photos, and to an even greater BACBC 2010. btw, Kwun, great XD play.
thanks for posting the results. as predicted, Ebay won the Cup again this year. they beat Oracle 3-1 in the finals. my team failed to advance to the playoff but we gave everyone our best. i am very proud of them. as for photos, i failed this time to take much good photos. i was too engrossed with helping with organization and cheering for my team i hardly spent any time with photography. i will try to see if there are good ones to share. i hope other photographers will share some photos with us. it was totally incredible to see GGBC packed to the brim with participants and supporters from 14 different valley companies. total success for 2009 and we are looking forward to 2010. my team will start training for it, tomorrow.
thanks. much credit goes to my XD partner. she played her best badminton game yesterday, cutting off and pushing down everything that goes near her while maintaining the game plan. all i had to do was to smash down the loose lifts.
we had great time playing aganst Nvidia, we both fought hard and the games so tight it could go either way. I wish I could put up a better in XD with my aging body. I am sure both companies will train hard for next year's event. Our guys have a really good time and I was glad we can give them even playing time. Looking forward to next year rematch.
You guys should start recruiting more badminton players into your respective companies for next year. It can be like how colleges scout high school players for certain sports. Except you guys scout badminton players for your companies for next years Bay Area Corporate.
