dan I have the same question as on previous page... do you steam the birdies first or just take them and hit it
Dink where can i get the RSL tourney #4? you rate it as bang for buck and it's pretty inexpensive....i'd like to get my hands on some, but i can't find any other than the classic and the No. 1...
over here in sg there seems to be 2 versions of the yangyang tactic 300b shuttles available. not really sure which is the newer/older version. and not sure whether the quality of new batches has deteriorated over the months if possible, can someone using these shuttles post some pictures of the packaging? so that ill know which received the excellent rating from mr dink here
Review updated. Please check the last test date as I find it essential. Shuttle quality is deteriorating significantly. The shuttles of the past were superior and less expensive. Caveat: I feel this review is becoming more and more flawed (inconsistent) because I have reviews of shuttles from 3 years ago and shuttles that are current. It's unfair to "compare" them. For instance, the current batch of AS50s are really sub-par relatively speaking. The durability is just not there. Anyway, it is what it is. Just don't try to compare a current shuttle with shuttles from the past, you'll most likely be disappointed.
this is really sad. I now play more feathers than plastic and now this. thanks for informing us about this trend.
This is just part of the cost for playing the game. If you hadn't switched over, you won't have known the differences. Now that I have switched over for some years now, I won't go back if I have a choice.
Things have not really changed over the years. A specific brand quality can vary in quality because it is the brand owner or OEM who determines the quality he wants from the manufacturer. For example, RSL Tourney No. 1, a brand I used buy in bulk at extremely low prices, had quality that ranged from very good to rubbish. The more you squeezed the price down the worst the quality. It is like Walmart trying to source Chinese products at ridiculously low prices, and in return you get what you pay. In short it is the OEMs who are short changing us. The manufacturers just sell the shuttles, often without labels on the tube and the individual shuttle, which the OEMs then stick them on. If they want to they can stick RSL Classic labels onto a RSL Silver tube and shuttles, and what can you do?
anyone in uk noticed that the as30's have got significantly worse in the last few months? ie it seems rare they can last a whole game at club/county level, that's kinda disgraceful if u ask me...
there's no way an as30 could last a whole game nowadays, even at club level. we use on average 2 as40s for an average length game at my club. expensive sport indeed!
that's why we switched over to the 40s. the increase in price per shuttle is minimal, but it plays so much better. the trend is worrying though.
Hey Dink, what's the difference between Chao Pai Green and Grass Green? MJ Strings has 'Green' listed as duck feathers. http://mjstrings.ca/popup-chaopai.php
Both are duck feather. The Green is superior in all aspects except price. The Grass Green is a training shuttle but can be used as a game shuttle for up to advanced beginners. If you have hard hitters, skip.
Hey Dink, are you familiar with the shuttle brand "Thomas Cup" (see the pic as attached)? It seems a Japanese brand, high quality but not very known outside Japan. It is also hard to find its review with Google. My friend may buy some for me, but I really have no idea about it. Any comments? Thanks.
with the prices skyrocketing (i just found out from my club that the price of our AS40s are going up to £14.50, or about USD30) how long will it be before we see the market flooded with fake shuttles? or maybe it is already!
