Duoforce is a great doubles racket (it's good for singles too). I had good reaction times and smashes were very good (offc not as powerful as head heavy rackets, but powerful enough)

Using that method I get a head wt @ 41,25g

Compare that with some of your other rackets that you like for doubles.

For example, my preferred head wt for doubles is around 40.8g wet or 37.6g dry.

Wouldn't it require me knowing the head wt of the duoforce to make use of that comparison?

Head wt is most likely going to be different for everyone (assuming the exact same racket), the tilt of the racket (height of the base for the handle) and scale precision will make it differ. I think that measure would only be useful to compare rackets that are measured by the same person.

^ If his scale is accurate to +/-0.01g as is mine, then we should get the same numbers.

And even if the racket is not perfectly level, the measurements are not that far off that we can't compare.

    If they are calibrated together....

Assuming the gravity in his area is the same as mine, 2 different scales that are accurate and precise should and would measure the same to within it's error tolerance.

^ For example, if you bought 1 lb of sugar in HK and I bought 1 lb of sugar in Canada, we both should have the same mass and weight of sugar, shouldn't we?

No, just measure your other favourite doubles rackets that you're currently using on hand ie your go-tos. Then you'll know your preferred spec.

The scale isn't really the issue if it's well calibrated and precise. I think the main factor of error will come from the angle of the racket. I have no idea how much of a factor it is, but it seems that if theres a couple degrees of difference, the wt reading could be off by as much as a couple grams (say 1-2).

I havent tested though, so just speaking hypothetically

Alright... just for you, I measured head wt for a racket with the handle ranging from 0.5in below level to 2in above level of the scale surface.

With such a wide variation in angle, you'd expect a large variation in measurement right? Nope. :) I was only able to detect a 0.05g difference between the 2 extreme angles. So I'd say it's quite repeatable and consistent, and rather insensitive to minor variations in the racket angle.

Yes. Mass doesn't change. Weight doesn't change but you use different measuring devices;) I am sure when you read research papers, the methodology will state the brands of machine used for measuring for consistency . :) If not, then they should do!

Since you are trying to claim differences in mass down to 2 decimal points, calibration and drift are factors to account for.

Ahhhh, enough OT. Back to the regular programme. :)

I notice that you have 4U JJS also.
    What are the specs again?
How does that compare with your APP?

JJS is stiffer so I'd think it's more accurate but more demanding. Whereas APP has reverse taper shaft which feels flexier, so more easy power but less accurate?

How about smash, defence, drive, etc?

Still trying to decide which one to pick up. Tks much! :)

Here are the specs of all the ones in my bag at the moment. The dry weights were measured with my old scale so they were either rounded up or down.

The JJS is stiffer and definitely more demanding but very precise.

The APP is easier to use and power is more accessible continuously at a fast pace!

Both can produce great smashes. But I find that if you want precision to the sidelines, the JJS is the one you want.

They are both equal in drive and defence. But the APP has a little edge on manoeuvrability.

So saying all of that, the JJS to me is an excellent singles racket and the APP excels for both.

I find that for fast doubles game when I'm at the back hammering down smashes, rackets like the TK8k, Legend II and APP much better cause you can continuously smash and have great downward angles.
The JJS is pretty decent too but the angles become inconsistent when you're thundering down the 4th or 5th in a row.

The JJS is special to me cause I was 15-1 down in a singles game and ended up losing but managed to get the score up to 21-19 :). Stopped using power and went for precision instead!
Tight drops and shots to the net are very accurate and not to mention it is a gorgeous looking racket.

The APP is special to me because it is so easy to use and highly manoeuvrable. In a blind test, I would not be able to tell the difference between the APP and my Legend II.

^ Dang it! I was afraid you'd say that. ;)

Can't I have *both* power and precision without compromise? :p Yeah, I know, I'm greedy, I want to have it all. :)

Oh well... looks like I'll have to pick one up next wk... most likely the APP just to be different from my current batch of MX70/80 and XP60/70. ;)

Went to Topline to drop off the Zspeed and BS10, now I have the adipower tour & mxjjs demos to play with.

    APP is still out :(
