Interesting, full time pro coach, pls enlighten us with evidence that "LD allows CJ / CL to take training less seriously" & "CJ / CL did not train hard" as implied in your comments??? :D

In my earlier post, I mentioned LXR is not yet 20. I was wrong, sorry; my mistake! :( She is actually 21.

Can anyone identify this racquet, please?

    They are all training hard

    .
You didn't get my main message:

I said if Lin Dan does not give CJ and Cl free passage to gain ranking points, CJ and CL would need to train harder.

    Now, let's return to LXR.

Same applies here: If LXR does not give the 3 Wangs free passage to gain ranking points, then the 3 Wangs will need to train harder from now onwards.

They are all training hard. But 'harder' is the comparative work-load they need to put into it, if they want to be CHN No.1.

Sorry, just one last point to add as it came to my mind - Lin Dan's rare losses the past few years are , apart from LCW which is already once in a blue moon, to Sho Sasaki, Kenichi Tago, Wong Wing Ki, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, but never to Chen Long, not to mention Chen Jin.

This will be my last discussion about the CHN MS players in this LXR's thread

This will be my last discussion about the CHN MS players in this LXR's thread.

LD is the best. When CL and CJ are in the same tournament with him, he can 'protect' them, by helping them with free passage to gain ranking points, by either he making CJ's and CL's next opponents very tired, or he giving walkovers to CJ and CL (if required).

Yes, this is good help from LD when the draw allows him to do so. But with his help, the negative part is that it makes CJ and CL so protected that they (CL and CJ) get to feel that they don't need to train 'harder'.

Just imagine that LD retires today; Without his help anymore, CJ and CL will need to double up with their training schedule (here, the words are to exaggerate/overstate things a bit). :D:D:D

Another possibility is that LD is so good than CJ lost confidence to beat LD. he believed that working hard is not enough to beat LD.

LXR is now WR#2, fast rising and continues climbing steadily, harbinger of many more peaks to conquer after the Olympic Gold ?!

Sorry, beg to differ as it was LXR who came home with the gold ahead of both her better known sisters - perhaps against all expectations ...smile.

kwun made a very interesting and insightful point of LXR being a thinking player during her Olympic final match with WYH. I couldn't agree with him more, indeed an intelligent, analytical ability during play is a key factor to success - it's what separates the champions from the also-rans.

    Watch it here http://vimeo.com/48955255#at=0

Obviously, LXR wasn't at her Olympic best, having to continually attend media activities and celebrations with Lin Dan and other gold medallists, so was somewhat lethargic and out of practice from lack of systematic training, a bit more error-prone than usual; even so I must admit Lu Lan played quite impressively, who put up a spirited performance to get the better of the Olympic Champion, LXR,the player everyone wants to beat at the moment no matter what form she's in.

In G3, Lu Lan despite pulling her lower back/upper right thigh muscle went on to win 21-19... (I'd better not say too much and spoil your viewing pleasure). Suffice to say,Lu Lan,the now 25-yr-old ex-World Champion(2009) and veteran (born May 2, 1987) showed that on her day she could still trouble the world's best. Might she be making a comeback from here, I wonder, apparently delighted after having overcome the newly-minted Olympic Champion?

You're absolutely right, the depth in strength of Chinese badminton, including their former national players not just new up-and-coming ones, is phenomenal and unmatched anywhere in the world.

I just watched the LXR vs YPY Olympics QF match. LXR has problems with YPY's power. If YPY was more consistent, she would have beaten LXR already. If LXR didn't improve, she will be following WSX, Lu Lan and Zhu Lin's fate.
