Will Lee Chong Wei remain World No.1 until the 2012 OG?

No bet. :D:D:D I only said to Loh that CL MIGHT be able to topple LCW and/or LD to become WR1. For CL, I give him a 10% chance to be WR1.

    For LCW...60% chance.
    For LD......30% chance.

Then by your own admission CL's chance is rather poor, certainly behind LD's. But if LD continues to win tournaments his chance of overtaking LCW is very good, not 30% as suggested.

Yes... I am willing to treat you with 100 sticks of satay if LD can topple LCW as WR1 before the 2012 Olympic Games. But if LCW remains as WR1, you will only need to treat me with 50 sticks of satay. :D:D:D

Will it be LCW or LD as WR1 during LOG 2012?

Many thanks for your offer but it is difficult to fulfill as we are not at the same place - you're in Melbourne and I'm in S'pore, unless you can find time to meet at a common venue, perhaps in London for the LOG 2012. :D:D:D

I was wondering why you are so sure that LCW will remain as WR1 before LOG 2012.

As of 8 Dec 2011, the three closest rivals, with the no. of points indicated against their names are:

Which places LD 10,501.2 points behind LCW. :(

That also means LD must earn more than 10,500 points to catch up with LCW.

    Is this possible or impossible?

Not impossible if LCW could not participate, or only able to do so in less subsequent BWF point scoring tournaments as a result of injury while LD remains fit and continues to win points.

Now if LD wins in some majors or becomes runner-up or enters the quarters or semis, how many points can he score? And LCW was unable to win or do better than LD in these events or even worse, was eliminated in the earlier rounds.

Here is BWF's world ranking points table:

*At the Olympic Games 3rd place will receive 9200 points. Fourth place will receive 8400 points.

All it takes is for LD to win a SS to greatly narrow LCW's advantage when LCW did not take part.

But in reality, LCW and LD will try to participate in as many SS from now till LOG to score more points. The higher their world ranking as No.1 or 2 will mean they do not have to meet each other in the early rounds and avoid the better players in their halves until later. The danger is that they can become fatigued or worse, sustain injury which can mean a non-appearance in the most prestigious of all tournaments - the LOG 2012!

Maybe someone can volunteer to research into the number of world ranking tournaments that LD and LCW will be participating before LOG. It will be interesting to note which are the ones that the two will likely meet in competition. :D:D:D

LCW's coach: Chong Wei, this our plan on how to beat Lin Dan. Blablablablabla...
LCW: OMG, I have loose to Chen Long in two tournament in a row!
LCW's coach: OMG, Chong Wei, change the tactics, I got a new plan to beat Chen Long. Blablablablabla...
LCW: OMG, please stop this! I'm confuse! Which plan should I use now?!!!

Probably, this is what LCW have to face. Right now, not just Lin Dan gonna intercept him but Chen Long as well.
    Poor LCW.

TH to help LCW, while LD to help CL

    .
LCW will ask for help from Taufik. ;););)

If Taufik can defeat Chen Long and only giving few points to him, then Kenichi Tago could end up as 2nd in Group B.

But then, Lin Dan will help Chen Long by giving even fewer points to Kenichi Tago. :D:D:D

Well I have taken a look at your #1 post and I found nothing concrete to substantiate your claim. ;):D

To claim that "China is no longer interested to have Lin Dan to regain his World No.1 position". " does not tally with what LD has been dishing out whenever he meets LCW.
LD wins most of the time! And he even beats his teammate CL lately to try to regain his WR1 standing.

As I've said, LCW's position is now rather "precipitous" as he could fall suddenly not only to LD but to CL as well. :p

Unfortunately, not even ex-Olympic champion Taufik can help himself. He has been beaten by much lower-ranked players like Derek Wong of Singapore during the recent SEA Games and Tago of Japan at the ongoing SS Finals.

Taufik is not good. I do watch his game in the SEA Games.
He doesn't play good even though he played in home soil with all the berserk fans.
He is just over-age right now. He easy to get tired and he is not the player that we are used to watch in the past.
The same thing will goes to Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.
But I heard that Lin Dan will retired when he reach 35. lol

LCW in Year 2011: 15 tournaments played (complied by limsy)

    .
I am not saying that LCW is better than LD, or LD is better than LCW. I am saying that LCW is interested in staying as World No.1, but LD is not.

    Only hours ago, limsy posted some statistics for LCW (LCW in Year 2011: 15 tournaments played);

Just wait for limsy's data on Lin Dan (especially on the walkovers Lin Dan had given). The many walkovers that Lin Dan had given should tell us something. ;););)

Well LD has just beaten LCW's semifinals conqueror, CL, in the just concluded SS Finals in Luizhou. LD will enjoy massive points from this win so too will CL add more to his WR points. LCW will have less.

Is LD interested to regain his WR1 position? Or is it up to his boss? Time will tell before LOG 2012.

after the SSF, LCW is about 3500 ahead of LD. As they both played more than 10 t'ments, points gain from now on can only to replace the 11th highest points.
LD did joked about that when asked by reporters can be be ranked No 1 again, he said he will have a go if the sponsors put up a big enough bonus.
as for olympics points, both LD and CL will be top 3 no matter what, and will be seeded on different halves anyway.

Don't forget we're talking about just before LOG 2012 and that means many more months to go. In any case LCW's lead has just been reduced to about 3,500 points with the SSF win as pointed out by Alan.
