I have 2 rackets. Apacs Edge 10 for Doubles, and Armortec 700 (new) for Singles. I have estimated the life span of the BG-65 on each racket. So it last about 48 hours of playing for each racket. Cheers.
Most of my rackets are strung at 28lbs using BG65, BG65Ti and NBG98. On average i break the string once every 3 to 6 months. I play between 4 to 8 hrs per week. Sometimes i also cut the string and restring the racket if i feel the tention has gone too low, especially on my NS9900 that i use as main racket.
you can find my rackets here: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?13695-your-racquet-pics!/page34 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?13695-your-racquet-pics!/page39 And just recently got the three YY player series (not on the pic)
i like to treat string and racket issue separately. IMO string and string tension would characterise the same regardless what racket is used. On the other hand, racket specs and character would not change regardless what string is used. My approach is, first to get what string and string tension that would suit me and then get the racket specs that also suit me, and the combination of the two will be the best for me. In my case, i wont be able to play my best if using a thin string (eg. BG66) regardless what racket i use, i need to use a thicker string strung at 28lbs (no bargaining on this). On the other hand I also like to use a head light and extra stiff racket, although this racket issue is somewhat tolerable in my case where i still can play my best using a head heavy racket too.
just got my SuperWaves 35 back from the stringer, BG80@26lbs, is there anything I can do to help to preserve my strings ? I want them to last about 2 months or so, anything I can do to help them reach this sort of durability without switching between rackets ?
right now i use either yonex BG-65 or Gosen Pro 70 on my racquets, both .70mm in thickness and i have 200m rolls of each. ill string my 3 AT700's at 29x31 lbs and it will feel great but i dont break it i always restring my racquets before the string breaks, roughly every 3 weeks (4 weeks at the most) ill restring them cause they have lost tension this is with playing a minimum of ~24 hours a week alternating through racquets as well.
I remember back 20yrs ago, they applied a bit of candle wax on the string. I dont know if they still do it these days, but the idea was to lessen the friction between string
wow thats insane.... and thats a lot of badminton you do in a week, you must be a pro ya..?? Do you string them urself?
Well I train (on court) minimum 2-3 hours a day alot of the time it's more, and yes I do string them myself have a stringing machine so it's all good get my strings pretty cheap from Asia or if yonex gives me any here and there with stuff. Might need to restring more often soon espically with tournaments coming up and all.
My stringer is awesome, he put a tiny sticker at the bottom of the handle that say the date and what string and the tension. So i know exactly how long the string last and under what tension
I do that for my own rackets. I review/test so many strings that I very rarely break any nowadays; they usually get cut out when I get bored or test the next one. Having said this, I did bust a bed last Friday during a test - my very first since the Z62 went on my Arc Z in April (yes, April).
I recently conclude that BG65 at 31lbs plus minus 1lb (initial stringing specification is at 33lbs which then loosens and stays constant) lasts me 6 months of regular play before fraying starts to appear on the sweet spot and I'm forced to cut the string before it snaps.
