hm... i haven't used zm67 for a while now. but what i remember is that it has good repulsion at around 25lbs. the shuttle does bounce off quite nicely. the feeling is slightly to the softer side. feel is ok but slightly erratic. tension retention is very decent. vs850 is pretty bad when it comes to retention. but the feel / touch is just so good it has not been matched by any other strings that i have used. as a result, control is excellent which is the main reason i am using it. i play a lot of mixed with touch shots in which feel and control is crucial. repulsion is good at higher tension, medium in 25/26-ish. i was getting very very good repulsion out of it. the sound is excellent too but not as loud as nbg98.
^^ Thanx for the mini comparo! So for the vs850, in order to take into account the so-so tension retention, do you then prestretch it to take off some slack, or do you string it say 10% higher tension and wait a few days for it to settle to your target tension?
i don't do anything special. i just leave it to the machine to do the pre-stretching as i do with all strings.
Hmmm, but it'll lose tension over some time, so I suppose then you string higher tension first and allow it to settle to your target, knowing that it will lose 2-3 lbs after X number of days?
well i suppose if i absolutely want say 29lbs on the vs850 then yes, i might have to compensate for the tension loss. but then what is 29lbs anyway? 29lbs on vs850 is not the same as 29lbs on bg65 which is not the same as 29lbs on zm67. even at the same tension, every string behaves differently. so getting absolutely 29lbs in vs850 is meaningless in some way. what is important is that when i dial in 29lbs on my machine, and let the string slack over time, i like the feeling that came out of it. yes, in reality that may have already slacked to 27/25/23/20 lbs. but that's really not important anymore. what is important is that i like the end product while i dial in 29lbs in the machine.
RKEP has the cheapest price. just need to get enough stuff (more toys... ) to make the shipping worthwhile...
Yep, I'm waiting for Eric to get his share of MX70's, then I'll get one to complement my current MX80 and there'll be a Vancouver mini group buy with several rackets, 2 bags, dozens of grips, strings, shirts, etc!
A big THANK YOU to Visor for letting me in on the buying spree. My order keeps growing . Gonna have to hide the stuff from the wife so I don't get chewed out on it .
I strung my MX80 with NBG98 25lbs it does feel pretty weirld. It just feels different from my VT80 strung with NBG 95 @ 24lbs. Anyone know why?
higher tension on the mx80, also the mx80 has 80 holes that make it feel stiffer, also the middle strings on the mx80 are 2lbs higher than the rest of the racquet. Also the weight distribution is different in the racquets. just my 2p
got my new toy yesterday n will try out tonite. strung with Victor 660 ( i think ) @ 26 lbs... hands itchy already,.... lol...
Is yours a 3U or 4U, and will you be using it for doubles? Curious, what's your current racket because I want to see if I'm the only one who took a while to adjust. (I moved from Nanospeed 9000X --> MX-80)
3U.... ermmm...move from ? lol...hard to say... i use many type of sticks. AT, NN,BS11,LN,V,Finnex... so,very sorry!! cant answer you !! lol...
Madbad, don't worry... I think there's space for BOTH a 3U AND a 4U MX70 in our September order! . I'm sure you'll adapt to one of those in no time!
