Yesterday i played again with mx 80 and arc 10... and arc 10 feels better for me.. maybe mx 80 is still to stiff for me (played for a month with mx 80 ) I dont know whether i should buy arc 10 or not :/ I play ms, md, and xd :/
I think both rackets are well-suited to any discipline, but if the Arc10 feels better, buy it. Playing with a racket that performs worse just because you like it better for some reason is not how one should approach things^^ Even though I don't particularly like Yonex (because of their unreasonable pricing and the fact that older rackets do NOT get cheaper around here) I would still use their rackets if they improved my performance. However, as that is not the case, I don't have to worry Back to topic - the MX80 can be a bit stiff, especially noticeable in singles (where clears can become a bit short or just not as easy as they need to be) or doubles when the stiffness reduces your power and smashes don't have the usual penetration. If that does not change after prolonged use (more than 2 weeks of continuous use), you should go back to a softer racket. Playing with a softer racket isn't a sign of weakness - it's preference. I'm surprised again and again to see world class players use the Arc7 or LN N70 because they feel so weird to me, but I couldn't score a single point against those guys
thanks for advice / help Do you think decrease tension could "reduce" the stiffness of mx80. My test arcsaber10 was strung with 10kg... my mx80 with 12kg (which wasnt a prob on my ns 9900 )
MX 80 seems to feel much more stiffer at same tension, compared to Arc10. Would've a try with 9,5kg, if you feel comfortable with 10kg on Arc10. Ah, it's gotta be the same string to compare... I guess you've got BG65 an the Arc and the given Victor string on your MX? If that's correct, I wouldn't wonder MX80 felt weird and way to hard though
If the MX80 is too stiff, get the MX70. Problem solved! Remember, both have 80 strings, so string an MX80 2lbs lower than what you'd string an Arc10 at, and the MX70 maybe 1lb less. Just curiously, has anyone else noticed that there are MX80s with different white paint? I've just noticed that my TWB coded racket is Pearl White, but my TWC coded version is plain Gloss White.
The MX80 is stiffer and has a tighter stringbed than the NS9900. Try 11 or 11,5kg next time you string it - which should be soon with a BG66^^ The softer string will (of course) make it feel softer and make slower/shorter swings a bit more powerful.
Hey, no fair! My chips have mainly been the result of others hitting it. Some people try to take almost all the shots, including mine.
Just got my new mx80 from christ shop today strung with VS850 with 25" 27" lbs. Tried with my first game today, it wast really hard like wood... mishit and i cant really stroke well.. Change back my N90 which strung with VS850 at 26"28" lbs by christ today and i can easily handle and the racket. Netting, stroke and smash with my N90 is even better than my newly MX80.. Personally i felt the tension is really like 28 or 29 lbs =.=|| One thing can confirm is MX80 is heavier and stiffer compare to my N90 I. Any owner of MX80 who strung your racket with diff tension for x and y? Or is it better to stick with one tension especially for this model since it has 80 grommets? Darren
I have no experience with different string tensions on the MX, but it's a LOT stiffer than the N90. The N90 is a 'soft' stiff, whereas the MX is extra stiff. If you're used to the longer, slower swing motions of the N90, the MX will feel hard and unwieldy indeed. If you wanna get used to it, you'll have to use it continuously for 1-3 weeks, depending on how quickly you adapt. To use it properly, good clean technique is a huge bonus When I use my N90 or VT70 nowadays, they feel sluggish and somewhat weird (especially the softer VT70). But I use the MX for 3-4 weeks now and had the BS10 before that, so I'm very used to it
