I have used a Karakal SL 70 for about three years. I have some shoulder problems so that I must use my racket like a 'fly swatter' with my thumb on top in a 'frying pan' grip, using mostly my wrist, rather than my shoulder, to swing the racket. (This works very well for me, and I have the Senior Games medals to prove it!) The light weight of the SL 70 allows me to quickly get to the bird, and a flick of the wrist is all I need for power or finesse.

Now Karakal has upgraded the SL 70 with Nano Technology, and introduced the M Tec 70 with Nano Technology and ISO head. claire@karakal.com claims that: " The SL 70 is lighter in the head due to the composition. The titanium in the M Tec 70 makes the balance heavier in the head and the Magnesium in the SL 70 is lighter."

    (1) Should I upgrade, or keep my old SL 70?? (Cost is unimportant.)

    (2) Would the new SL 70 or the new M Tec 70 be the better upgrade??

Contact Sunny at www.giadinhsports.com He can give you the exact specs on Karakal because he weighs and checks the balance points of his rackets when they come in...;)

    It's medium to medium stiff.

There will be a new SL70 coming out quite soon and it should be a vast improvement over the old one (according to people who have playtested it). Whichever one you want, it will bring benefits, either giving you a better SL70 or bumping down the price of the old one.

I would say, stick with the original. The new version of it, I mean.
