If you're not holding it this way, then it's not right. http://www.badmintonbible.com/articles/grips-guide/grips/basic-grip.php If you're not pronating this way, then it's not right. http://youtu.be/HNVC5PVJyPQ But you've already shown improvement in your technique. Just need to focus on pronation more.
To focus on your pronation, think of it as swinging with the elbow leading and your racket edge first towards the bird, then just before strike at the last instant, quickly pronate and whip the racket face squarely into the bird. Do it slowly first with less power in order to get the timing and technique right, then gradually increase speed and power.
First posting of my video. Played doubles with my regular friends, I was in orange at the closer side of the court. I would say that our level is average intermediate, still have some unforced errors and I wish to have more intensity and longer rallies Any suggestion and advice are welcome, thanks !
there is too much room between you and your partner when you guys serve. You are very upright throughout a really - need more knee bend to load your quads. Split step is also generally missing. When you're at the net you drop your racket to your ankles. 3.39 you should stay at the net and your partner should rotate to the back On overheads your elbow looks too low. 4.31 - why play to the rear court? The space is right in front of you 4.33 you should follow your block in to the net. Your partner should rotate round 5.10 shows why you should hold racket higher at the net 5.30 another block that should be followed in (since you opponent isn't attacking it) 6.02 follow your net shot!
Thanks for the heads up amleto ! Yes, I am not so good at the net area. My court awareness need to be improved a lot and I have to train my legs to inject more pace during rallies as well. Tomorrow morning will be the next session with the same group, I will keep your advices in mind. Hope I can play better after learning those mistakes through the video.
amleto has a very good point about following your blocks and net shots. Firstly, you can anticipate the return better than your partner. Secondly, just the sheer presence of your rushing in will create mental pressure on your opponent and he'll think twice about playing a net return so he will most likely lift, which is what you want in a good doubles game.
You seem so relaxed while playing Agree with amleto on bending knees (face forward racket up, blah blah blah), stay in a position where you can react to the shuttle quicker.
Yeah... Still have a lot of bad habits, that's the problem when you have no one to monitor and assess your games. I've been almost a totally self-trained player for so many years until recently I got one coach to train me once a week. Drills are absolutely the best way to improve and I feel more consistent after all. Luckily, we have more chances to improve by seeking advices via Internet with video recording became relatively more affordable nowadays
I have no idea... but I got bashed so many times by people who thought that I don't spend enough effort and too lazy to move around
Good match! Not to take anything away from you, but wow did your opponents make errors Lots and lots of them, but then again, you were pretty impressive on the attack, so maybe they felt the pressure a bit....nice disguised drops. Screams were a bit on the loud side tho
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8vWSU6XUjdk I'm the guy in the white and red yonex shirt. Just a catch up video on improvement. Ps please ignore my female friend talking sorry. She recorded for me Pros: smash is getting faster steeper And you guys won't believe this but finally established proper grip (""": smashing is amazingly fun Technique is getting better Drop shots are getting tighter and net kills are way better then before Cons: swing to fast and miss time the birdy Very lazy at times oh my gosh ))): Split step is missing quite often need to incorporate it more Racquet is not always up. And anymore criticism would be appreciated thank you. Third video
Well, at this point you really really should get a coach to get proper footwork, and then find suitable opponents where you can actually play rallies Both of you don't really seem to put in much effort....but that's often the case when you're a beginner. Still, you really shouldn't turn to play the backhand so much, it makes you seem pretty lazy
Yeah I couldn't really play over heads I injured my neck some how sleeping or some sort, foot work I'm working on it going back to training on Friday , I'll play seriously next time.
Please understand I'm not saying that you actually are lazy, just that this game made you look that way. Is there a way for you to get coaching and some (ideally, slightly superior) sparring partners?
Yeah I understand, this game was sloppy. I do have coaching I haven't had it for awhile it was a break kinda thing. Yes I do have sparring partners that are slightly above or close to my level.
